True, but I, for example, am not trying to learn the biz of real estate and investing. IMO, it should come from pros just as well as newbies. The few that welcomed me, I checked out their profile, and they were pretty much pros. Plus pros join here as well, having discovered BP somehow, via friends or an Internet search. In a reality though, just to be acknowledged when you join BP can impact BP and the newbie as well, and make deals possibly in the long run.

I can't really offer much to newbies, except to say hello and welcome aboard, and maybe give a few pointers on how to navigate the site.

But just the few that I have meet, while they really cannot help me, does not mean that they cannot help others. Especially since it could turn into a deal. I was reading some forums today, and saw an old post that was never that was never commented on, and it was asking a lot of questions, professional questions. I knew that I could not answer it, but I could have alerted others that missed the forum to check it out, and maybe help out with this. It could have resulted in a deal maybe for members here.

The stats show that there are 309 forums on BP. And that there are 57,219 registered members. Sure, a lot of them come here to basically just place their information, which is not going to do a whole lot for them if they do not engage in the site. It makes one wonder about the other thousands that joined one day and never heard from again. And the basics of starting off the welcome to them, could have kept them active maybe.

Besides, checking out the welcome forum could mean a deal for the pros right away or in the future.Adding a welcome comment could start a relationship in many directions. At least I look at that way, and I am not in real estate or an investor. LOL

Another point that is good imo, is when you do invite your friends to a website, including BP, is that you want them to join for their good, and that they can get something valuable out of it. And being welcomed aboard on BP, at least with my friends, could go a long way, and they would also probably ask their friends to check it out as well.

I am on Facebook, and 98% on my friends list, are friends and family, with friends I have known for several years that I have meet via the Internet. I am always reluctant to invite them to any website, unless I know a great deal about the site myself.

When I do an invite to any site, I place it in my notes on FB (which is like a blog), and explain as much as I can about the site, why I enjoy it, and the value of the site. And of course include the link.

I am actually working on this right now in draft for my FB notes. But, I would also like to add in the note to make sure they post something on the Welcoming Forum, as to me it is the ice breaker. And I don't want to be the only one that welcomes them here. LOL

Thanks Mike and Joshua for replying. I agree that it is a business networking site, and what made me stay was due to the fact that you did not have to be in real estate, or investing for that matter. Anyone who rents or owns can also find this a valuable website. I am on lease with option to buy in a HOA covenant neighborhood, and I found the HOA forum very useful. Tenant agreement forums, and other forums as well.

I also feel that anyone who is welcomed on the BP forum, will in most likelyhood, remember the people that took the time to welcome them. One of the people who welcomed me, was from Tampa, Fl., and I have a brother in Tampa that is looking to buy a home. I am going to refer my brother to him. I am also going to invite my brother to BP.

I would be more than happy to volunteer my time to be on a welcome committee.

Hi Joe,

I might be able to help with that. I just did a little research on this kind of thing.

I am still not sure how the link thing works here as far as breaking any rules, but I can follow you and I think be colleagues, and send this information to you.

I joined BP a little over a week ago, and was happy to find the Welcome new members to BP. I did introduce myself. And did get a few responses of welcoming me.

My searching for funds, Investors, etc. will probably not work out, and that is fine, as I really did not know how things worked on this. But, I will stay here, as the site has so much more information that I need to educate myself on, such as HOA, lease with option to buy, and the list can go on and on. I did not know that there was such a thing as birddogs in real estate, and I might be pretty good at that.

Anyway, this site can be somewhat intimidating to newcomers, as it is somewhat hard to learn how to navigate it, at least in my opinion, but the more time I spend on it, the easier it gets. Plus, some people are shy, and afraid to ask questions. And welcoming them when they submit to the forum, I think is so important. There was an individual that joined yesterday, and no one said hello or welcome aboard, yet his post was read 33 times.

I read on another forum, what would it take to get people to engage more on BP, and I will probably go back and comment on that again.

I use to be an admin on a fairly large social networking site, and I had several volunteers, to include myself, to welcome new members. This turned out to be very valuable, and these new members invited other members to join. I also had it set up that when a member joined, that useful information was given on how to navigate the site.

I will be visiting BP as much as my time allows, as it is a great site with so much valuable information. But there is not as much engagement in conversations on BP than I had expected. I think if this could be changed, more people would stick with BP, invite their friends, and communicate more with other members via forum discussions, blogs, groups, etc. And having more people welcome new members would go a long way.

Just my thought, and just trying to help.

Hi Chris,

I am new myself to BP. Great site to find all kinds of knowledge on so many things. Check the help section as well. BP is a big site, and it took me several days to figure out how to navigate it, but once I did, it was great. There are groups you can join as well.

So, you own horses. I love horses, yet have not ridden in years.

Thank you so much for your reply. It is a very touchy subject, especially in Single Family homes. Several SF homes decided to make their homes available as group homes, and has become a popular idea, as well as a needed goal. It has spawned hundreds of court cases, mainly due to the HOA wanting to prevent this and variances being denied. Mine was such a case, with me suing the city and the HOA suing me. Both cases were dropped, and I did get the variance. I was just interested to read if others had encountered this and have read that group homes are a good investment, I am off topic now, and will not comment on it here anymore, but thank you so much for replying.

The FHA act of 1968 designed to stop housing discrimination by Federally funded housing providers. The FHAA of 1988 was passed by Congress to extend the FHA's protections against discrimination to people with physical disabilities. There are so many law cases about this, and I was just curious to find on BP how it has affected realtors, investors, landlords, buyers, etc. via blogs, articles, forums on BP.

I did mean
FHAA, Fair Housing Amendment Act of 1988. But I need to go look at your writings as well, as FHA is something I am interested in as well. Thanks so much, and will follow you.
