@Aryelle Collins

It's inspiring seeing people take action and finding new and creative ways to get to their goals through things like partnerships and mutually beneficial relationships.

Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your success.

Much love,

@James K.

You are correct with regards to the origin, I visit my family in Mexicali often and they introduce me to several local markets with some interesting spices. Tamarindo is not in the recipe and achiote was part of the trial and error process but getting the little pebbles and crushing it didn't make the process as fast as we wanted it to. Plus it didn't mix well with the other ingredients when it came to leaving a good bitter sweet taste in your mouth.

Quiiiiiiiiiick Tip of the Day: When networking in any form of environment after you introduce yourself with a smile and a firm handshake, make eye contact and show a genuine interest what the other person has to say. If you are able to get a business card write on the back of the card a personal detail about that person as soon as you finish talking to them. When you follow up with them mention that in your email or phone call and it will help you along the way.

Question of the Day: After consuming over 50 hours of podcast during the past two weeks during my daily commute and while interning in a finance position I've started expanding my knowledge of the real estate community. I know there are hundreds of books and blogs with useful information and I will try to consume as much as possible but what are practical steps to get into the game. I live in the bay area as a full time student at UC Berkeley.

I've already started networking and setting up calls as well as singing up for local meet ups. What else should I focus on to have my first rental property before graduating?

@Jenna Estefan

Congratulations on your first property!

You not only made on victory by buying your first investment property but you also did househacking, you got into duplexs, and use multiple creative finance strategies.

Congratualtions on your multiple victories

Hi @Aaron Mazzrillo,

Next time I drive by Riverside I'll be sure to take you some samples. However the secret recipe will remain secret. You are more than free to try and replicated but many have tried and failed. Yet I'll let you in on part of the secret, one of the key ingredients is a spice from another country.

@Brett Snodgrass,

What is your prefer method of communication in order to follow up with you. Whether it be through email or a short phone call or some sort of direct message through BP which I have yet to discover?

@Ryan Landis Go Bears!!!

Ryan you have no idea how awesome it feels to have Cal grads as part of BP. Yes I can definitely relate to the time squeeze but I've been trying to maximize all of my time. During my two hour commute to work for my internship I listen to several real estate podcast as well as during my spare time. Before and during classes I intend to consume as much BP material without sacrificing my school work but it's difficult because you sort of get hook from one podcast to another and from one article to another.

Do you know how I can attend the BP Meetups as well as what I need to do in order to qualify and get licensed?

Thank you for the warm welcome and Go Bears!

Hi @Brett Snodgrass,

Thank you for the warm welcome as well as the practical advice to get going from day one. I really like your introductory video based on its professionalism and its content. Hopefully one day our paths cross and I can help you expand your marketing machine.

I wish you all the best and your philosophy of helping others in order to get where you want to go is spot one. My philosophy is very similar but with worded in a vary basic manner. "If you want to become a millionaire help a million people, and if you want to become a billionaire help a billion people."

Hello BP Family,

After contemplating for a few minutes the type of impression I wanted to make with my introduction I simply realize that if this community truly was going to become a part of my family I should be transparent from the start.

  • After immigrating from Mexicali,  Baja California in Northern Mexico I dedicated all of my effort to school which earned me a place at UC Berkeley for my college career. My family has always been the reason why I push myself even when the norm among my generation is to relax and maximize leisure time.
  • The lack of free time in high-school force me to get creative in order to get money. After coming home from practice I would bake and sell the world's best cheesecakes, my homemade secret candy which I distributed to all the local food trucks which in turn would sell it to all the students. In the end I earned some money and I lend all of it to a small business with a ten percent interest fee without really knowing what any of it meant.
  • Now my goals are to network and absorb as much information as possible as well as nurture sincere and hopefully mutually beneficial relationships for the long term. The end goal is to establish a solid foundation for the beginning of my real estate career in the years to come.

Hey Chris,

Having accountability partners is a really good tactic to push yourself and others around to stay on track. With that said I would love to be a part of a weekly conference call along with you and other BP family members. To be fully transparent I am brand new to the forums since I just became a BP member today after listening to all the podcasts on my commute to work. I didn't want to waste any time to become active in the community but if I'm not the type of individual you are looking for do you know someone who is, in order to set up a conference call with people prior to their first deal.
