I have never understood the manpower, technology, walls, and general effort and expenses involved with "securing" our borders, finding illegals already in the country, deporting them, supporting them while here, etc.
Regardless of what you really think about illegal immigration, it seems crystal clear to me that these efforts are futile and wasteful, and that the solution is simple - severe penalties for those found to be employing illegal aliens. If businesses and citizens cannot afford the risk of hiring them, they won't be able to stay and will actually have to deport themselves.
Let the penalties pay for the enforcement effort.
For the record, I am all for immigration - legal immigration. Our hope, diversity, and energy is our strength. But every legal immigrant I speak to is insulted by the entitlement mentality and the ease with which illegals mingle with our society.
I understand wanting better for yourself and for your children, and fighting for it, but what is the point of laws if they are not enforced?
