A current thread talks about those underwater on mortgages or negative net worth. I decided to ask a simple question. I believe more than 2/3 of PUBLIC has current negative net worth. Lots of reasons: underwater on home, recent BK, college grad with student loans, divorce, medical catastrophies, estate planning etc. So, here is the question.
Add up all your assets and deduct your liabilities. Is the resultant # positive or negative?

1. for positive
2. for negative
Don't feel bad if you're a 2. Most of us were or are a 2 at sometime- lots of reasons as outlined above. And please, i don't want just the 1's to respond. Be brave. Rich.

p.s. I'm currently a 2 personally!

I agree with J Scott. But if the entity is a limited liability entity, then a negative net worth for the business will not flow through to your personal balance sheet except under specific circumstances such as personal guarantees, stock that is not fully paid-up, etc.
