Post: Should I create a LLC

Hello all! I'm in the process of setting up 1 unit of my duplex for rent. I was wondering if it would be smart to start a LLC since I will not be using a property manager and letting the rental income flow through a business account. Any suggestions on how I should handle my first rental or am I just overthinking it.

Hello all! I just closed on a two unit property in Baltimore Maryland. I’m looking for a contractor to do some renovations for both units. One is for me and the other is to rent. Any suggestions?

@Jaysen Medhurst

You were 100% correct. I know it’s been a few months since I posted this but putting offer in a offer in today. Covid put me behind schedule but I think I found a diamond in the rough.

@Kelly Claiborne

Fear, money and commute time. I currently live and work in Washington DC. Within the next few weeks I plan to put in a offer for a 2 unit home in Baltimore Maryland using a FHA or one of the many Maryland First Time Homeowners Credits.

Spending money is a large fear of mines because for years I struggled with saving. Now that I have a good amount of money saved up, I fear that I won’t have enough to become a successful investor. Secondly if I move to Baltimore, it will add at least 1 hour to my current 15 minute commute.

I tend to over analyze everything but i know home ownership will benefit me in the future.

Any pointers for someone that is scared to make the jump?

Hello Investors! I'm really interested in buying a duplex and renting out both units. I may have the opportunity to be approved for a 3% conventional loan. In my search I was trying to recieve an FHA BUT WAS OFFERED THIS OPPORTUNITY. I think this is a better deal since i would not have to live in the unit and now rent out both. Any suggestions on what else I should look into.
