Hey @M Marie M.,

Thanks for your insights into what can be a really rough experience for long distance landlords. I have been involved in real estate in the Ocala area for some time and have seen a number of run-ins with the code enforcement department. I'd be happy to chat with you about any way that I might be able to help from this end. Thanks again for the insight!

Hi Mario,

I've helped a number of rehabers find the right properties for them here in the Ocala area. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to chat about the Ocala area. It definitely has some interesting opportunities.

@Aaron Dallas, As others have said, Welcome! You've come to the right place. Lots of great folks to connect to here on BP. I live in Ocala and have been here most of my life. I'm a realtor here and work with a number of BP members in helping them find investment property in Ocala and Marion County. Tampa and Jacksonville are nice areas as well. You may also want to check out some surrounding areas of Orlando like Sanford or Clermont. As for the Ocala area, I'd love to help you here. PM me so we can connect and find the best place for you.

@Caroline Apostolos, I'm an agent in Ocala and I work with investors to help them understand the area to find the right kind of properties they are looking for. Ocala has grown over the years and has various pockets of opportunity with different types of price ranges and home types, depending on what you're looking for. There are stable areas and some growing areas as well. I'm sure there are some properties here that can fit what you are looking for. PM me so we can talk specifically about what works for you. Thanks.

James, Ocala continues to grow, in mostly good ways. The community still has very deep roots. Lots of "ol' timers"... And many new and remodeled areas that continue to make the area beautiful! If you know anyone looking to invest or move to the area, send them my way. I'll take good care of them. Thanks!

In any case, she just told me the exact address and it's not as close to Ocala as she thought (she has never been to the property - bought it sight never seen) and it's in Citrus Springs (south part of 34433 near border to 34465). The neighborhood is largely undeveloped which again, does not bode well for her or my prospects at turning a profit here.

In any case, I plan to talk to her a bit more this weekend and expect to get exact figures from her as well. What do you guys know about the area? With this new bit of info, would it still be worth my while or just walk away and focus elsewhere for a first project?

Thanks,

Doug

Doug, if you can find someone in that area, with GC contacts, etc., then you'll be better off. I work mainly with clients in Marion County, especially in the Ocala and closely surrounding areas for finding properties, or connecting with a GC for builds, repairs, rehabs, etc. Let me know when you're ready to do some work in this area. I have many contacts from being here many years. Happy to help. Welcome to BP!

Hi @Doug Wint, I'm a realtor here in Ocala and I'd be happy to help you with figuring out what to do with this piece of land. Building is an option, like Mary said, depending on where it's located. This is certainly happening in the Ocala area. Send me a message so we can connect. I look forward to talking with you.
