I would say its more like a rock and a sweet spot. I am also military and I wish before I made my first purchase I was in the same spot. We (military) have an excellent opportunity when it comes to investing using the VA Loan. All the advice above is very good. Only other thing I would suggest is to search the forums. There are many topics on starting out with investing. Just apply what you learn knowing that you have the option to get into a multifamily deal with no money down if you choose to. Once you purchase your first property start planning your next purchase around your next move or PCS. There are a few topics here on using the VA loan multiple times something that I was not aware of. Good luck and happy investing!

@Brooks Rembert  thanks for the response, I'm looking forward to doing a little more legwork myself.  I am in the Navy but will be out in a few months so I'm excited about being able to devote more time to Real Estate.  Thanks again.

@Brooks Rembert  just curious!  How did you come across this deal.  I am looking into wholesaling here in Hampton Roads and am looking for creative ways to find deals.  Thanks in advance for your time.

Your post really motivates me!  I am active duty military and will be separating in about 6 months.  One of my goals is to be full time within a couple of years.  It's always good to see everyday Joes doing what I want to do.  Much sucess to you in 2015.

@Elizabeth Colegrove thanks for the reply, nothing really that I planned but I couldn't find anything black and white on the subject.  I hope after talking to a broker I find something solid.  I really wish I had BP as a resource years ago I would have started investing.  Thank you again for your insight!
