@Dominic Punzo will you be cash positive when you rent out both sides.  Meaning will it make money?  House hacks are interesting because you may be looking at it a little different from a straight up investment property. Don't do that.  I have done house hacking three times.  I'd say if the rent from the other side covers your entire mortgage, you are doing okay. But is that payment with taxes and insurance?

@Giles Fernald Part of me thinks the agency is just making an excuse for not getting it rented.  Or perhaps they are sending someone out to show it that is making too much of a point about how the garage isn't included.  Tough to say really.  Any chance of just listing and renting it yourself?  Seems like an oddly specific objection to renting when it's clearly stated.

Is a rental/finding tenants game hard in your market?  It's not here (at the moment) so I'm not sure what could be causing this, what seems to me to be, an odd issue.

@Gulliver R. I had a very short run of cast iron. It was $1500.

I had never actually heard of it referred to as what you just called it before today.  I just googled that and yes we are talking about the same thing.

Interesting!  Sorry, I don't know enough about the whole deal to make a suggestion, but I like that you are trying to figure it out.

@Gulliver R.  I had asked the age of the pipes because you don't necessarily have to dig the pipes up anymore to fix them and this can be huge cost savings. I have had trenchless pipe repair done and this can really save a headache. If you're going to get an estimate it may be worth looking into this because you can avoid ripping up pavement and lawns.   Trust me, a contractor will be more than willing to dig up your property and the street not even mention that they didn't have to do it.  This is very common these days and the repair can last for 50 years.

It's not suitable for every situation, but worth looking into in my opinion.

@Stephanie Boggs I'm having the same issue you are having.  I'm looking for a podcast and I can't remember what number.  There are so many now that it's hard to locate the one you are trying to find.

You might be looking for this one though.
