@Sastry Konduri Just because you haven't seen a deal like this in SF, doesn't mean there aren't other potentially better options available in Columbus.

@Jason Boulter we are looking mostly inside the 270 loop, we aren't focused on one neighborhood.  There are a lot of areas that are growing quickly other than the short north.  For example, Old Town East, Franklinton, and the South Side.  There are lots of opportunities depending on your goals, I'd be happy to help anyway I can!

Hey @Adam Schroeder,

This is the route that I took and now have 10 units, its an exciting and interesting business to be in for sure! If you're ever in columbus I'd be happy to connect.

I'd also like to mention that you're saving 25-30% for a down payment might not be necessary to get started if you don't already own a property, it might be worth speaking with a lender about.

Good luck and if theres anything I can do to help just let me know.

I don't want this to sound like a plug but for our rentals we have been using the bigger pockets screener and have been very happy with it so far.  Good Luck!

@Jeremy Drawas Does your dad want to get into real estate full time, though it can be much more passive than a full time job it is still a job.  Also, it sounds like he has been very successful in his career and wouldn't have much time left, would he want to justify his and your mothers retirement because he couldn't wait 5 years to retire the way he had planned?
