@Carl Fischer, thanks so much for your response! I will certainly send you a PM to learn more. I have a lot of questions:)

High level outlook, I do not have a particular deal in mind. I am looking for most likely a buy and hold SFH or small multi-unit. I am open to options on whether it makes any sense to take funds out of the account to put towards the deal , or to keep the funds in the SEP and have the SEP fund the purchase. I will certainly bring my CPA into the conversation but I am happy to hear there are ways to go about this. The bottom line is I would rather put the money I have in my SEP IRA into a real estate investment than have it sitting in the market as it currently is. Excited to explore ways to make this happen.

Hi All,

I've seen some sporadic posts on this topic on the forums from time to time, but I am hoping to get some guidance on how to use funds from a SEP IRA to fund deals. I know this is undoubtedly a question for a CPA, but I am hoping that someone will see this post and will have gone through this process and can share some of the details of how it worked out. And it would be an added bonus if you have done this AND are a CPA and can tell me all the fun tax facts about how this type of transaction would work:)

Thanks all!

Tim

Hi @Charles Carillo, we are looking at several different markets for some of our international clients, including Florida. Would love to get in touch with your attorneys and CPA's and pick their brains. Thanks!

Thanks for the input @Bruce Lynn! My wife and I are actually paid in US dollars, but I'm asking for some potential clients of mine. And yes, you are correct that in Holland the language barrier is rarely if ever an issue, which makes life a lot easier. I will also follow up with my CPa to get some more information. Thanks again

Hi All,

I'm looking for recommendations for an real estate attorney that specializes in international transactions. I would love to speak with someone that knows the ins and outs of getting financing back in the States when your primary income may be in a foreign currency. Anyone know someone they can recommend that may be able to help me with this? Appreciate all insight. Thanks!

@Lauren Ashe! It's absolutely possible to make your investment in Pittsburgh while living overseas. As everyone mentioned above, its all about finding and vetting the right team to have the right boots on the ground to walk you through the process. My wife and I live in the Netherlands and continue to expand our portfolio back in the states through our trusted partners. Best of luck, and keep us posted!

@Jesse Hodges there are certainly ways that this can be done. My address in the Netherlands is a DPO and although it can be a bit of a pain, there are options to getting financing.@Erik Hatch made a great point of establishing an LLC as a holding company in the state in which you are looking to invest. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss some options.

Hi @Joey Tuckey, sorry I'm late to the party here and not sure if your situation has changed since you posted this. I'd be happy to speak with you about investment possibilities back in the US while serving abroad. My partner and are are Diplomat investors currently serving in Europe and would be glad to share our experience with investing from overseas. Feel free to reach out to me and we can speak further.
