Being a landlord while overseas

Hi BiggerPockets community! This is my first post. I've been extremely grateful for all the information on this website and I've been trying to soak up everything that I've come across. The amount of info is overwhelming though. So I am reaching out to see if anyone in this community has been in, or is currently in my present situation.

My wife, kids, and I live overseas where I work. We come back Stateside once a year to visit family. We are looking into the feasibility of buying a property that we can rent out while abroad, but it's been hard to find articles, forums, education, etc.... So I was wondering if there is anyone here that has rented out a property while overseas, or is currently doing this? Any tips, suggestions, or links to resources (on this website or elsewhere) would great! Would be especially helpful if we could get some insight into the best place to START as far as research and education goes. I think that's been the hardest part in our journey of buying a rental property!

Thanks to all those who take the time to read our post! Take care!
