My wife and I checked out Oak Park, Illinois last Saturday. A historic area of Chicago where Frank Lloyd Wright lived and built more than a few houses. Also unity temple. Also the birthplace of Earnest Hemingway.

There are also scores of old Victorian homes. Walking tours and other cool things to do.

Highly recommend anyone in the Chicago area to make the trip.

Who'd want a property in that cheap area :)

have a paragraph in the offer that let's you out if the bank says no. With a fully refundable deposit. The seller may agree to no deposit until the bank says yes.

We went through similar last week with a new construction we are doing.

interest on a loan is tax deductible I think. Is pmi deductible ?

Personally I'd find a way to get the pmi gone. It's money down the drain and you could always get a home equity loan in an emergency.
