All,

I just moved to Houston about four months ago for a new job. My plan is to buy a 2-4 unit when my lease ends in October. I am still trying to learn the area, so I am not sure about which locations in Houston are best for looking for small multifamily.

After some preliminary searches, it seems that most small multi are in lower class neighborhoods and not sure if that would be something I would want to house hack. Maybe a rent by room strategy would be a more sound strategy for this area?

I would love to hear some insights on people who have house hacked in Houston. Also would love to chat further with some investment sales agents to try and put together a gameplan to try and find something for me around October.

Thanks!

Hey everyone! My name is Thomas Monge and I wanted to reintroduce myself as I have not posted on here in a couple of years.

A little bit about myself. I am a recent college graduate from the University of Florida who has been licensed in real estate since the end of 2020. While in college, I helped investors buy property across Central Florida. Some of the properties I helped investors purchase were student housing, small multifamily, and fix and flips.

I have recently moved to Tampa and have transitioned into commercial brokerage, specializing in retail and multifamily properties. If anyone is local to the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater MSA, I would love to connect!

Looking forward to getting active again in the BP community!

Hey all,

I am a college student at the University of Florida and have been paying around $800/month in rent the past year and want to house hack a property in order to decrease my living expense. I was planning on having a family member cosign for the property since I have had unstable employment due to the heavy workload in college. Now, all of my family don't want to be a cosigner because they are worried it will be too much of a burden on their credit. I have the cash saved up for a down payment and closing costs, but I am worried that I will not be able to get any type of loan due to lack of stable employment during my years in college. I plan to have a job again starting right before the school year, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on obtaining a loan on my own?

Thanks a lot.

Hey all,

I am currently a student at the University of Florida and was interested in the idea of house hacking a single family and renting out the rooms to other students. I am currently paying an exorbitant amount in rent in an apartment and am trying to find ways to reduce if not eliminate that expense.

I was just wandering if anyone had advice/experience in this space and whether it be something I should look into more.

Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I am now a 20 year old that has recently been interested in learning about real estate. But, I am currently in college and working a minimum wage job in order to pay some of the bills I currently have. I have been trying to learn more about real estate in my spare time, but I am not really sure where to start. I would appreciate it if some of you all told me how your journeys started and any tips you would have for someone trying to start out like me!
