It seems like everyone I talk to has been buying new construction buildings and condos. They're all going up, apparently. It has to stop some time. Any of the projects I hear about are all getting bid up before anything even starts.

OKay - for now - I'll hold judgement. Just didn't like getting someone trying to shove mortgages at me before I asked for it.

Where in Southern California are you finding people willing to sell for $100-$150k??? I have friends there, and the prices are no where near that.

I'm from the Chicago area - NW suburbs. I'm not really looking for mortgages right now - just learning - thanks for saying hello, but the hard sell really won't work with me. I'd prefer if you just said hi and were helpful instead of pushing a mortgage.

Thanks to Toney & biggerpo, though.

I've read some stuff here, and think being a bird-dog is a good way to start out. How much do people charge for this?

What is a safer bet, investing in commercial buildings, or investing in residential properties. If you become a local landlord to shops in a town, would that be better then if you had homes there?

Thank you.

I want to start investing soon, but I have so many fears. What will it take to overcome all of them. I'm scared to lose all my money. I'm afraid I'll mess up. Please help me understand what I need to do to get myself mentally prepared.
