@Danny Rigdon Welcome to BP!

You can do just about anything in REI while holding a full-time job, but don't plan on doing some things quickly!

I work on Real Estate Investing in Indianapolis close to 30hrs a week and I work full-time 40-45hrs. I'm an early bloomer =)

We have a MeetUp for BiggerPockets Indy people http://bit.ly/16fIs9h

Feel free to join up and attend our next event.

@Ron Steckly This is an investor map I put together.

All properties are owned by investors with 10+ houses in Indianapolis.

It should prove useful =)

Hi @Annette McDonald and Welcome!

Always good to see another Hoosier on BP.

What got you started in REI?

What strategies do you have interest in?

My Mom bought a house for $170k cash from her IRA and an additional $50k for misc expenses. (maybe more) She lives in the house, it's not under an LLC.

She is afraid she may get hit with $50k in taxes for 2014.

Is there anyway to deflect some of those taxes through buying real estate?

Any ideas or suggestions would be very helpful!

Thanks so much for your replies.

Definitely a good time! (13) people showed up.

Thanks to all who came! I'm sure we'll do it again soon.

@Tim Herriage The global network is good, but wouldn't a global network be unnecessary if you are selling properties just as fast and for the same amount locally?

You said you had to close the deal on your end when you sell a property on Auction.com. Do you list the property on the site before closing?

@George C. Frugal is good =)

3% is the accepted standard among the RE industry. So paying that amount for finding a buyer makes sense...

So taking both the WS and REI in consideration... If our site helps WS sell the property and helps the REI buy it then would it be greedy to charge the WS the 3% on the front end and 5-7% to the investor on the back end for all transactions?

(I know pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered... But there is value for both parties so I'd like to know how you feel about that.)

George you are right about being able to search and find deals on craigslist, zillow, etc at 3am in your underwear, but the purpose of the site is to reduce that time in searching through alerts.

That is a good suggestion for a place to have lunch, but we will be structuring it a little differently and will need a place where somebody can speak in front of the group.

I tried Latitude 39, but it cost $200 to book a room then $30 for a marker board and $17+/pp for food so I didn't think that was an option.

I'm waiting to hear back from Dave and Busters off 82nd/86th.

Still trying to figure out another option other than 5255 winthrop. It may be too far for some. Would you be able to attend at that location?

@Tim Herriage Thanks for the details.

I think I understand now what you mean. So through the 'Auction' feature you increase your net by 7% because the buyers are paying more than you would have received if you let them 'Buy It Now'?
