Self-Directed IRA: Can I deflect some of the taxes on personal distribution?

My Mom bought a house for $170k cash from her IRA and an additional $50k for misc expenses. (maybe more) She lives in the house, it's not under an LLC.

She is afraid she may get hit with $50k in taxes for 2014.

Is there anyway to deflect some of those taxes through buying real estate?

Any ideas or suggestions would be very helpful!

Thanks so much for your replies.
