@Luka Milicevic

If someone does a cash out refinance, can we ask for an appraisal before the first one is finished? So let’s say the lender orders an appraisal, can we get our own as well and ask for the higher amount at the same time? Or is it more common to wait for the appraisal to come back and dispute it then? My thinking is that I’d rather pay a few hundred dollars at the beginning to get an extra appraisal and not risk delaying a cash out refi.

@Alfonso Simmons

Brandon Turner's book, The Book on Investing in Real Estate with No (and Low) Money Down, highlights a lot of options that investors have. I personally love the HELOC option.

I’ve been really impressed with Anderson Business Advisors. They’re located in Nevada and have clients all around the nation.

@Tom Maricle

Does anyone here think that laws may pass that would tax Roth accounts in the future? Right now one can withdraw tax free from these accounts, but what if that’s not the case if laws change in the future? Social Security used to not be taxable until 1983 when it got amended.

@Katie Lepore

I’ll be sure to ask them that during the questioning process. My family and I plan on staying here for the foreseeable future, so someone strong in CA laws is imperative.

@Adam Byrne

If the a appraisal comes back low, you could possibly contest another reappraisal. That's what happened when I was filing a HELOC, the assessment first time around was a drive pass and not an interior appraisal. I asked for another free appraisal, this time more thorough, and got a value back 10% more than the previous one! Don't be afraid to ask if that becomes an issue.

Hey everyone. Just starting out with out of state investing, gathering my team.

Looking for a real-estate friendly tax specialist in the Wisconsin area. I live in California, so someone who can work well with out of state clients is a plus! Also, if someone owns investments in a particular state, does it help for that tax specialists to be from that state?

@Mitch Messer

Thanks Mitch! I’m looking into a few places that I’m in the process of narrowing down. Madison, WI or nearby cities is one. Another is Texas and a third possible in North Carolina.

@Scott Passman

That makes complete sense. And with out of state investing the PM component will be vital.
