Post: Starting a REIA, trying to figure out formatting

I'm starting a REIA group out of my brokerage in Burlington, NC that would also be accessible to triad and triangle investors. I've never organized one before so I am still figuring out how to actually run one. I'm not charging fees or dues, I just want a place where people can network and learn from experienced investors.

Does anyone have any tips or resources for learning to coordinate meetings? Also, if you're an investor in Greensboro, Raleigh, Durham, Burlington or the surrounding areas, feel free to contact me for information on the groups meetings and events.

Thanks in advance!

Im working towards my goal of 10 rental properties in the next 5 years and be able to have about 3-5k of cashflow per month. I am also interested in trying my hand at flipping a property, and I would like to buy one  property to use as a short term rental. I'd also like to work on closing more transactions as a realtor and put more of that money towards building my rental portfolio.

Ive also recently began coordinating a real estate investing club in burlington. It's free to join and attend, and welcome to anyone from the charlotte, to the triad, to the triangle. My goals for that is to grow it into a huge networking opportunity where anyone with any level of experience can come, meet like minded people, and extract a huge amount of value. Also, if anyone reading this is interested, feel free to reach out for more information. Id Love to connect!

Thanks for the responses! I am getting in contact with a soil scientist I was referred to by a developer friend of mine. Hopefully he can help me with some different options. I don't mind spending a couple thousand if it means I can find a buyer that isnt going to lowball me by about 30k.

I have a piece of raw land listed in Greensboro, NC. It has been on the market for two years with a couple of inquiries, but I think the issue is that it doesn't perc very well so it's scaring off buyers. Is there a cheap away that I can make it perc better?

Thanks in advance!

@Nathan Faucett  We're shooting for the the first meeting being Wednesday February 5. Topics havent been determined, but I'm expecting it to be just an introductory meeting. Getting to know everyone and the aspirations of the club.

if you or someone you've worked with have a lot of experience in a niche, and wouldnt mind being a speaker at one of the meetings, we're also looking for people to fill those roles. Send me a message with your contact info and what you do, and we'll see if we can fit you in on a meeting. Its a great opportunity for our members to learn from your experience and also it's good for the speaker as it lends to your credibility and markets you as an expert and professional.

And just for keyword alerts sake: Greensboro, High point, burlington, cary, Raleigh, Durham, mebane.

Not sure where else to post this, but I thought I heard on one of the recent podcasts that rentometer was doing a year for 49 dollars. Am I remembering this correctly, and if so, what was the promo code for the offer?

I'm starting a real estate investing club at my brokerage. Trying to increase awareness and interest and make this a valuable and educational networking opportunity! It is free to the public and any level of investing from no experience to seasoned investors are welcome. Each meeting will have a speaker on something relevant to RE investing, such as analyzing ROI, Finding and financing, commercial investing, taxes, wholesaling, etc.

We are planning to hold official meetings the first wednesday of every month, with informal get togethers whenever time permits that will be coordinated through a private facebook group that will be created later. So if you're looking for a group, and live anywhere from the triad to the triangle, Greensboro, burlington, cary, raleigh, or durham, Feel free to reach out to me with your contact information and we will add you to the contact list for upcoming meetings and events.

Let's make this an incredible group that adds a ton of value!!! Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Welcome Patrick! I'm an investor in the Greensboro area as well. I'm just starting out, but if there is anything you need help with, like showing a house or someone to be an errand runner, let me know. I would love to learn from and work with someone of your experience! Happy Investing!

i got mine through the triangle institute of real estate. The classes were in burlington. I cant recommend this school enough. Great teachers and tons of supplemental resources. They also have a pretty high pass rate. I passed both the class and the licensing exam on the first try. It cost around 500 and included the book, online resources and two exclusive workbooks that they usually sell to people that arent in their school for around 150 each. My teacher was tiffany stiles (or ross, i cant remember which she is now because she changed her name legally during the class), but i hear that Matt Davies, the other instructor, is really good as well.
