I just came home from WPB area. Looked at a couple rehab properties that we’re snatched up for way over value. Florida is not the place to invest for me right now. I’m sticking with Pennsylvania for now, air BnB around lakes and long terms in cities like Scranton.

Being you live in Florida, do you have any interest investing in Georgia or Alabama? Your 30k will go far in those two states.

I agree, ductless split units, although are an ugly addition to a room full of character are the most convenient installs. Also keep bills lower than central air as you can keep certain areas of the house cool only when needed. The heat pump works well also in them but I wouldn’t rely on that for primary source of heat unless you live in a warmeR climate

Poconos is great if your STR checks off all the boxes. Privacy, lake access, to name a few. You have to be better than the rest to make more money than the rest. Or at least advertise better!

palmyra and tafton are the townships in pike county that run along the east side of the lake. Palmyra to the south and tafton going north. Hawley is above tafton. Going south from the lake along 507 (lake wallanpaupack road) you run into Newfoundland, Sterling, and then Tobyhanna

I am new here, getting rid of my STR this spring which is 6 houses from lake wallanpaupack. Deeded boat slip (deeded partial ownership of two lake front lots with slips, shared by 16 houses in the area. Guaranteed slip) palmyra township, pike county so STR is legal. My lot is 1.5 acres. No community or HOA. Awesome place wish I could keep it but I'm moving my primary residence (ny) to Florida and will be investing down there instead. If anyone has any questions about wallanpaupack and the real estate there feel free to ask. Palmyra requires a permit which basically just proves that you aren't overloading your septic system. Pike county is the east side of the lake and Wayne county is the west side of the lake. Wayne county doesn't allow STR.
