Feeling stupid and happy at the same time...

I cut my premium in half and increased my coverage.

I guess it was laziness, but I've been with AmFam forevever...and I mean FOREVER. From my first car as a teenager till now.

A landlord friend suggested I call his agent, an independent, obviously. What an eye opener.

Yep, stupid and happy...that's me...

Dad wasn't fearful. He was working two jobs and didn't think he had the time. We all know the answer to that.

I have bought more buildings.

This month marks the 50th year that this building has been in our Family. In June of 1966, Mom and Dad sold their duplex and bought this 4 Family. Just this one building helped our family so much...

Mom wanted to buy more buildings, but Dad didn't.

When Dad passed in 1998, I ran it for Mom. When Mom passed in 2013, she left it to us three kids and I bought out my brother and sister.

I'm proud to own it and am so thankful to have had such wonderful Parents. They led by example, living below their means...

I could not have had better Parents.

New landlords, this is a key...believe me.

One additional item, there are working doorbells for each apartment on the outside of the building.

And in today's world, everyone has a cell phone..."Hey, I'm here."

No need for a non resident to have keys.

@Brett Tousley

Yes, you are correct. Once someone has a key to the main entrance, they can access the basement, where there is locked/unlocked storage and the laundry area, a typical Milwaukee 4plex.

This non resident person has a key to the main entrance and a key to their tenant friend's apartment.

Here is a picture of my building.

Yes.

I'm talking about a key to the main entrance.

Which gives access to not only the building, but the basement with storage areas, laundry....

Ok, I see that I'm in the extreme minority here.

Resume with your normal scheduled programming...

If I were another tenant in the building, I'd want only tenants to have keys...

...otherwise, why have keys?

The tenant knows the non resident.. And was home.
