Hey brother welcome to BP and sorry to hear about your injury but am glad you made it stateside safe.

I'm still relatively new but from what I do know the best thing right now would be for you to utilize your VA loan to get into your next house (preferably multiplex up to a 4 unit) then house hack that while you figure out what your market is and some specifics to reach your goal (multi family, single family, etc)

Until then just keep reading and participating in the forums here on bigger pockets. Depending on your market you want to invest in, you can use that $50k as a down payment on one or two bigger properties or 3-5 smaller properties.

Again I'm new as well and I'm just finishing my planning, but this is what I would do in your situation.

Good luck out there brother!

Welcome Bryan! I'm looking to invest in Michigan right now as an out of state investor even though I am a born and raised West Michigan native. Keep connecting with people, there are lots of good opportunities in the mitten!

-Steve

@Kate Stephens Thank you for the response and the recommendation!

@Tim VandenToorn would you mind if I message you with questions about the area?

Good day everyone, I am a native of west Michigan and am looking at turnkey properties in the Grand Rapids areas. I am also interested in good property managers as well.

I am in the military and stationed overseas so I'm looking to be very passive. Since I'm unable to be on the spot I'll be relying on a lot of pictures from realtors and you guys for good information and helping me along the way.

Thank you so much bigger pockets community for everything so far!

I'm currently away but wanted to connect with any investors from my hometown area! Just want to talk and make connections as I plan on buying soon!

So I'm still starting out and wanted to see how some others analyze their deals. I'm just practicing and not looking to buy this one but if it's a good deal then go ahead and take it! I know it's extra work on top of what you're already doing but I'd appreciate the guidance. I have the link below.

@Bradley De comarmond

Thank you very much! I intend on using BP to learn and network as much as I can! I just love the good people on this site.

I currently am listening to the podcast on my commute from work. It has a lot of good info.

I just finished reading Rich Dad Poor Dad and I'm getting other books as well. I really appreciate the help and will continue networking!

@Dmitriy Fomichenko

Thank you very much! I'm currently listening to the podcast and it is full of great info!

I appreciate it!

@Eric Anderson

I will either be back at the end of 2019 or at the end of 2022. So either way I have plenty of time.

Yeah I know I'm some bases they open the base housing to civilians and others close down. I appreciate it as this is something I didn't know about! I appreciate your input as well!
