@Nathan G. Thanks for your advice. We have an experienced property manager looking after our property. We are putting down a 25% down payment and have a pretty solid reserve as well. While we will focus on getting the our first rental property rented out, we will continue to look for great deals in the meantime. So you’re saying you suspect that the housing market will crash next year? Do you think it’s better to wait to purchase more until the market crashes?

My wife and I are about to close on our first rental property next week! We are already looking to buy our second one. Should we wait and get used to being landlords first or buy another one as long as it's a great deal? When did you purchase your second property after your first one?

Konnichiwa!

BPers in Japan - my wife and I are looking into house hacking a duplex (or more) in Yokohama, Japan. Does anyone have any experience house hacking in Japan? I'd love to pick your brain on this topic.

Also, we started looking into REI in the Greater Tokyo area and are meeting with an agent next week. Has anyone had any experience investing in Japan?

Thanks,

Shu

@Andrew B. - I'm actually in Okinawa and Osaka this week so I won't be back in Yokohama later next week. Next time!

@Michael J. Kanagawa is the place to be - yeah, let's meet up sometime in November!

Hey everyone,

My name is Shu and I'm new to BP. I live in Yokohama, Japan with my wife, who is from Minneapolis, MN. Are there any other BPers in Yokohama? If there isn't a meet up in Yokohama, I'd love to start one. I know there are many that live in Tokyo - let me know if you are in the Yokohama area!

Best,

Shu

Hey @Bruce Crawford, thanks for the info. That's awesome to hear that there are BP meet ups in Japan. Is there one in Yokohama as well by any chance?

Best,

Thanks for a thorough response to my post, @Tim Swierczek. I feel that small multifamily properties are the way to go but like you said, I've noticed that those are hard to find. We have enough cash for downpayment on several SFRs or a few duplexes right now. We feel that we are definitely ready to begin our real estate investing journey but like many have said, the first deal is scary! I believe that it's all going to work out at the end as long as I consistently apply the learning from each purchase.
