@Ned Carey I saw u said it wont give you absolute protection, i am new to REI and thought it did. Is there a better way to get protection or is the protection from an LLC enough?

Hello BP,

I am still looking for my first rental property. My wife and I have been discussing what market we want to rent to. We live close to South Carolina State in Orangeburg so she thinks renting to students would be great. I have heard a few horrible stories and a few good ones so I am split down the middle. I am hoping this thread can help me decide. Who does student rental and what are your opinions and who stays away and why?

Hello BP,

I have been actively trying to find my first property for buy and hold. However, there are so many things that can go wrong and that makes me wonder if I should get a LLC before doing any kind of REI or should I just go ahead and get that first property under my belt and get my LLC along the way?

I have not found my first property despite being on realtor.com, zillow etc. all day every day, so i am about to start doing yellow letter direct mail, and that's when I began thinking i might need an LLC before I start doing that. Any advice is appreciated.
