Hello Everyone! I need some advice, I am in the process of renovating my first ever home (which is taking far too long due to bad contractors) and I would like to eventually turn it into a STR or mid-term rental. The biggest problem is that the house is down a dirt road that can be hard to get to and also has a well/septic. The road is about half and mile and then a left onto a road that eventually leads to my house. It can be somewhat hard to find and drive down with a normal car sometimes, as a lower car can get stuck in the sand. Any advice? Do I just renovate, sell and move on or somehow fix the road? I dont have an endless budget to do that.

Can you give me a general idea of where your property is?

Hey Jason! House is in rural area in the city of twentynine palms. County of San Bernardino.
Falls under county of San Bernardino jurisdiction, but they won’t do anything about it.

Ok, when you say the rural area of TwentyNine Palms, I'm assuming your property is north of the 62. Would you mind sharing the closest major cross streets? I'd like to know in general, where your property is. If it is in the dust bowl area of Twentynine Palms, I'd say sell and move one but I need a little more information to go on. In general though, Twentynine Palms attracts more party-people than the other high desert towns and can be good or bad depending on what kind of guests you are marketing to.

The cross streets on Kelsey (off morongo) and Mac Rae Road. I do appreciate all the help Jason.

It seems like something you would have considered before purchase?

Can you afford to add gravel to the road? Would anyone want to travel to this location for a vacation?

Hey Nathan, the market is near Joshua Tree National Park. It's a vacation rental market, however, has high seasonality. I did consider this before purchasing, but the road was much better when I purchased it. After a couple of rainstorms, in the area, the road got much bumpier and sandier.

Hey guys I need some help!
I bought a house in twentynine palms, CA and it’s not been 5 months and I’ve been trying to get renovations done on it.
Had two contractors so far, one was dishonest and kept asking for money , the other has not been able to get it work done in timely manner and I just want to get it done and sell it or STR it!
Can someone please suggest an affordable contractor in the area that can just get the work done?!
