@Jonathan Avellaneda. I wish you were right about this. Remember that Oregon was founded as a white-only state. Larger cities have attracted residents and some leaders who are working to dismantle racism. But you don't have to drive far out of the city to experience racism. As a white person, it's not my day to day experience. You can follow creators on Tiktok that describe life in Oregon as a person of color to get a realistic picture

@Orie Brown Portland is very renter friendly so a tough place for landlords. But can be done. And there are lots of towns around Portland to invest. I think you should think about which climate you'd prefer to live in. They're very different! I love the weather in the pacific northwest but the cooler wet winters are not for everyone. Florida is the opposite, with extremely hot summer's but the wi terms are lovely.

Co grants on your new job!

@Ben Nelson. So this needs to be farmland of some sort? You can't build housing?

@Jeffrey Baxter. Your posts can be seen and I'm not a pro member either. I am not an expert, in fact I just have a house hack rental. But from the groups that I've joined everyone says that Portland is too difficult to manage a rental. I don't know that Washington is much better. We are looking to buy in southern Oregon. Mostly because we are priced out of buying anything from Eugene on up to Portland

@Bryan Danger. We bought a house In Portland and created an ADU in the basement. I'm getting out at the VA loan and moving again. Been thinking about some other Investments but financial advisor said to keep our assets more liquid. We're 5-7 years from retirement. Would like to be able to travel at retirement so thinking about converting our second floor to an Airbnb when the time comes

@Ben Barr I've been struggling with the same question. I live in Portland and am not finding anything that cash flows even in the greater area including Vancouver and heading down to Salem. With that said I only have about 30 K to invest so you're way ahead of me there. Please keep me posted on what you decide to do and I'll let you know what we decide on. Deal?

@Natasha Hill Shi Natasha! I live in Portland and am in the early stages of my investment journey. We have built an ADU in our basement and hope to add more buy and hold rental properties. Happy to connect

@Joseph Hummelthat was beautifully explained!

@Bryce BetleyJohn and Loren are right. It will be very difficult if not impossible in this crazy Market to get a busy drywaller out for a very small patch job. I have learned to do some drywall patching and skim coating myself via YouTube tutorials. Trust me if I can do it anybody can :-) and you won't have to wait forever for someone to find time to come out and do the work

@Oscar Cardenas I'd be happy to contribute on the next post. Just let me know when!
