Chris Lindmark welcome! I'm an architect in San Francisco who grew up in Santa Cruz. I'm looking to transition into investing and development in the same areas as you

I used to use airbnb to rent out my one bedroom condo in San Francisco that was my primary residence when I went on vacation. It was a great way to earn some spending money and in many cases paid for the tickets and some left over. I recommend starting with a lower price and once you have some good reviews raising the price. Also airbnb pays someone to professionally photograph your place which helps attract people. I now live at my fiancé's place and rent it furnished for 30 day minimum terms because of SF rental laws

San Francisco and the Bay Area are interesting markets. I would love to hear a podcast from someone experienced in the particularities for San Francisco.

David maybe you should qualify your comment with over a long enough timeline everything goes up. I picked up a property in 2011 in SF for 57% of what someone paid for it in 2005 and I think those owners would disagree with you. Now it is probably back up to the 2005 value and more but if landlord's recession level rents couldn't keep up with costs you could be in trouble. I feel like we have a lot of overseas investors combined with a lot of office space being built in SF and the Peninsula without enough new housing to keep up but another bubble burst like 2001 or 2008 and a lot of people could be in trouble. All that would make great topics for a show.

Thanks everyone! I've got a lot of research to do still but I plan to stay active by commenting on things I know such as architecture and design

cheers,

Hi Kyle,

I know it's a little late but I'm a licensed architect in San Francisco. I'm new to BP and still doing a lot of research but I would like to get into flipping, buy and hold or doing some ground up development.  It would be great to talk to you about what you've been doing.

best,

Sean Walton

Hi Everyone,

I was inspired by Jonathan Segal an Architect and developer in San Diego who gave a talk in San Francisco a couple years ago. I own a condo in San Francisco that has built up a lot of equity and I'm looking at using that to invest in more real estate. I'm loving the bigger pockets podcast and looking to learn as much as I can.

thanks,

Sean
