I find it sad that people will pick and choose and then apply a label.

I've always hated stereotypes myself. In most areas of my life it seems I contradict everything. You really find out a lot about stereotypes when you're petite blonde with a masters in engineering and economics. Perception is reality. I do however recognize the fact that my political views are, as you stated, of the right wing nut variety. It is the rebellious ones, the unreasonable ones and the trouble makers who have always made this country great.

I'm sorry. I wasn't gonna post anything else on here until I saw Eddie's post:

OH, yes and by the way here is how WIkipedia describe the honorable author:
"Willard Cleon Skousen (January 20, 1913 – January 9, 2006) was an American conservative author, political commentator, academic, and civil servant. He was a prominent figure among American conservatives and authored several books on conservative thought."

Why am I not surprised that Karen suggest his writing? This is like a Communist suggest Carl Marks as a great educator...

All I have to say to that is ROTF!!!LMAO!!! I had to stop laughing before I could respond which took me about 20 minutes. Because I suppose that's true. Though I never looked up a description of the author, I read the book and it covers things like the structuring of our government with the power belonging to the people, protecting the role of the family, majority rule/minority rights, avoiding the burden of debt, avoiding entangling alliances and even what is right and what is left. And of course someone so "right" they had to run a circle to get there such as myself would find it an intriguing book since the core beliefs of most conservatives lie in preserving the values on which this country were founded. I'm proud of that and don't hide from that fact one bit. I am a citizen of the US, not the world. And they don't call it "right" for nothing

J Scott I didn't get the impression you were communist but you do come off as liberal especially to someone such as myself. But I didn't get that impression from Tim's posts but merely from yours. Now I have not read all of your posts on here. As I said, I have only been reading parts. I think its an admirable trait to be able able to find common ground with both schools of thought. From your description of yourself, I would call you moderate. But who the hell cares what anybody else thinks. You're an individual. And you are what you are no matter what someone else calls you. Grandma use to say, "No matter what you do, not everybody's gonna like you."

I don't attack BO for any reasons other than his policies suck and he's a liar. Plain and simple. He's a politician. Of course he's a liar and any of you that voted for him and expected him to hold up all those campaign promises are very naive. I am by no means singling him out. I was anti-Federal government and wanted to see the Fed gotten rid of long before it became popular to bash Bush or BO. Our government is corrupt. I'd love to see the people of this country get up enough testicles to go in and throw the entire lot of them out. From rumblings I hear on the outskirts of Atlanta, Texas, Missouri and parts of California, that day may come sooner than any of us think. There are a lot of very unhappy people in this country right now. BO won the election, sure but the figures I got was that 7 out of 10 people of voting age didn't vote this last election. Wonder what they're thinking? Maybe the same thing I am. Socialist McCain or Socialist BO. We're already down to a one party system. What difference does it make who you vote for?

and J Scott, not meaning to offend you or anything, but there have been several times I wanted to ask you how you manage to stay in Atlanta without getting burned at the stake. I mean if it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck.

Hmmm...I'm not sure I understand...

"burned at the stake" and "if it walks like a duck" would imply that you're calling me a witch, but I'm guessing you might be mixing your metaphors, teach...

Are you implying that I'm a witch? Or am I missing your point?

Let me try to answer your question though:

Atlanta is filled with both very progressive, young, liberal people and very conservative, die-hard rednecks, and everything in between. My political ideals span the gamut (from very liberal on some things to very conservative on others), so I actually think I fit in very well.

Does that answer your question? Or did you not really want an answer to your question...did you just want to make ridiculous comments without any substance like some of these other guys.

Btw, where's Mr_Investor? I'm still waiting for him to answer my question?

And Tim still hasn't pointed out where I was factually incorrect about Tom Hicks (after he brought up the discussion).

Amazing how everyone just wants to insult, but then ignores the questions when they're brought up. But, then again, I guess that's the mentality of some people.

Yes I suppose you did miss my point. That's another reason I've stopped saying much on this forum. A comment that was meant in jest gets taken and bent all out of shape but I suppose it is ridiculously fitting as the rant that was posted above.

I have a lot of friends and associates and though most areas are a mix, that area is highly concentrated that with conservatives and "rednecks". I was only stating that your views on here might be considered a type of "heresy" to some individuals of that mindset. It was merely a comparison of the ideaologies you state on this forum in relation to those of majority of your surroundings. I think I'll go watch Romper Room now. There are fewer children there.

I've always been scary. You're just getting to know me is all ;)
That book isn't written by a politician but by professor who spent his entire life, researching and teaching others about what this country was founded on, what it means and how important it is.

I went to the local REI meetings for nearly a year before I did my first deal. Like Ro, said above, for me, it was fear. It was new and I was unsure. It took time for me to become familiar with not only the methods but the idea of risk. MikeOH, we were just in a similar discussion under another topic about my wanting to move into doing multifamily properties. I think its purely ambivalence to something new.

And while I'm teaching, I'd like to recommend a book that I feel every US citizen, especially today, should read. Its called "A Miracle that Changed the World, The 5000 Year Leap" aka "Principles of Freedom 101" by W. Cleon Skousen.

I haven't been posting a lot on the political forums lately because I've been concentrating my efforts outside of senseless debates that aren't going to really educate the person I'm talking to and focusing more on trying to get people to understand the core values of what our founding father's intended to preserve when this country was started. But I have been somewhat skimming through once in a while to keep up on the juicy stuff and J Scott, not meaning to offend you or anything, but there have been several times I wanted to ask you how you manage to stay in Atlanta without getting burned at the stake. I think we need a Religion forum...things could really get fun...

We already have a religious forum. Its called the political forum. Those who say religion has nothing to do with politics do not know what religion is.
