@Sam Chicquen many Canadians invest in the US. I would think if you joined a local REI Association in Ottawa, you would even meet several people with similar goals? I lived in Canada a long time ago and bought a house in California-as a Canadian. It is done every day. Lots of Canadians own MF in the US and I will bet they have all had to build their teams along the way too. I hope some folks will respond to this thread. But still find a local REI as well. Do some searches here on the site too. It does get covered a fair bit. All the best!

Hey @Bjorn Ahlblad I'm not sure if you remember me, but you gave me advice a while back and I took it! I'm currently a member of "OREIO" in Ottawa and since we last spoke i've learnt a lot more! I went to my first meetup last Wednesday. Again, I really appreciate you answering this thread! Thanks for the advice, and your time.

Interesting question, I always wondered if it was harder for non-US Citizens to purchase/manage real estate here in the states. My first suggestion would be to find a point of contact that can give the basic process for any hoops you can expect like another Canadian investor or U.S. based agent close to the border that works with clients from Canada. Once you get that it would be the standard process of figuring out your buying criteria and sending it. @Spencer Riche may be able to give you some solid advice too!

@Kevin Pillow Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate it.

I'll DM Spencer Rich and see what knowledge he has to share! One more question for you, do you personally work with any foreign investors? Canadians specifically?

If you were starting out again with zero contacts and wanted to invest directly in the US, how would you do it? And how would you build your team? I only want to invest in multi family.

Thanks in advance

Hello!

Are there any Canadian multi-family property owners willing to spare a 2-minute phone call or perhaps join me for lunch? I'd be thrilled to hear your story!

Hello everyone!

I'm a 21-year-old Canadian who is new to real estate investing and specifically interested in investing in the USA. I would greatly appreciate any tips or advice on building a solid team for my real estate ventures. What are some key recommendations you would have for me, both before and after finding a property? I would love to connect with experienced investors from the states. Could you guys please share any insights on how I can effectively get in touch with them?

Thank you all in advance for your valuable input.

Hello everyone, I was wondering if there are any Canadian landlords who invest in the USA on this platform. I am currently 21 years old and looking to take someone to lunch or for coffee in exchange for your backstory and knowledge. If you're not available, I would love to have a two-minute phone call with anybody! Please contact me privately if you are interested. I would really appreciate this!

Hi again

For property titles you will find that Realtors and Mortgage agents have access to websites that they pay for that give Iwner names.

Sometimes these names are company names and that may be harder to get to the actual person that can make the decision.

Best to work with Your Realtor of Choice and or mortgage broker of choice.

Any chance someone without a license can get this information? I'm currently 21 struggling with the same issue.

Yes - you can go to the land titles office and pay for each search.  I am not sure what the fee is now.

Do you know what these websites are called by any chance?

You can use spin2, no need to a license but it is $10 per land title and not very user friendly

Spin2 is Alberta I believe. Each province has their own system. I have used Spin2 in Calgary a lot but the owner information doesn't give you much other than a name and an address. Some times the property is owned by a company so you don't even get a name.

Okay, thanks for the reply I appreciate your time!
