Trevor Ewen I have actually been thinking about how much money I will have in each and I just won't know until I purchase that first rental property. I like that allocation percent though, it keeps things even. Earlier though we discussed investing in self storage because of the influx of baby boomer retirees in the coming years. Just to clarify, I was talking about purchasing shares of the companies: Public Storage (PSA) and Extra Space Storage (EXR), not buying storage units and renting them out. What are your thoughts on holding these two securities over the course of the next 5 years. It seems as if the baby boomer's have already made their mark, causing these companies to skyrocket over 200% over the last 5 years. Take into consideration that we have not even seen the biggest population of baby boomers come through retirement yet.

Hey guys, I'm relatively new here so bare with me. I was on loopnet browsing through multifamily apartment deals and I came across something confusing. I saw a couple of individual houses that had 2,3 and 4 BEDROOMS and the description on the property said that they contained 2,3, and 4 UNITS. Making them Duplexes, Triplexes and Quadplexes. Have I miss understood what a duplex, triplex and quadplex is? I figured, for example, that a duplex would be two houses combined, both consisting of however many bedrooms (2,3 or more). Am I wrong? Or is a bedroom considered a unit?
Brandon Turner I wouldn't have even hesitated to purchase the shirt if it had "Bigger Pockets" written somewhere on it.

Isaiah Lopez I know that you will be building equity in the apartment and pocketing a couple of hundred a month after expenses, which is good. If I was in your shoes, I just don't know how I would feel about shelling out that $2,300-2,400 each month for my own rent also. That's 3x more than what you pay right now. Have you looked into any Triplexes or Quadplexes? You could use the FHA and generate enough income from the other 2-3 units to gain equity, pay for your own mortgage and maybe still pocket a couple of hundred. Although, I don't know what state you reside in and if it is different but you only have to occupy a residence for one year with an FHA then you can move, but you have a family and that's always something to think about.

Hey guys! I'm a student at Georgia Southern and I've been on BP for about 6 months now. I'm looking for some people in the local area that are familiar with commercial real estate investing, particularly apartment complexes. I plan on investing within the next 2-3 years, so I'm just trying to gain some on the field knowledge. Also, I'm interested in learning about property management and looking to intern with someone.

Can anyone that lives in GA give a ball park estimate on the price of a 8-12 unit apartment building in Pooler, GA. I can't seem to find any due to the fact that I have no access to the MLS or subscriptions to any sites currently.
Todd Grill which online real estate crowdfunding platforms do you recommend? Have you had any experience with any of these?

Trevor Ewen I feel you brother, I appreciate the advice though. It's definitely expanded my knowledge on investing in foreign and emerging markets due to the research I've done. I'll continue to ask around and see if I can find any trends in advice!

Trevor Ewen Hmm, so I did a little shopping and I came across these two specific funds: 1) Vanguard Emerging Markets ETF (VWO) And 2) Fidelity Diversified International Fund (FDIVX) Let me know what you think.
