@David D.

Dang! I love how that just fell into place. Just wanted to drop in a say congrats and you sound like you're the type of person to 'figure it out' so I'm sure you'll do fine.

Good luck my dude,

Ryan

@Johnny Sung - welcome!

Do you ever see the Workaholics crew roaming around Rancho??!?

Sorry...bad joke. But I lived in Riverside for about a year working with Amazon over there!

You are in the right place, already getting on BP and being active. Start joining local FB Real Estate Investing groups (i.e. "Inland Empire Real Estate Investors") and introducing yourself there. In there, you will find various REIA meetups you can attend to start networking and getting involved!

Good luck sir,

Ryan

@Troy A Washington - @Jeffrey Covington had a great recommendation! Read that guide...then focus and go all in on learning all you can about that specific area. This will give you a good idea of how to start.

Start networking and attending your local REIA meetings and getting involved.

Good luck!

Ryan

@Gabriel Lopez

Welcome to BP - you're already on the right foot I can tell!

I would advise you to figure out which niche of RE investing you are interested in doing; Fix/Flip, Buy & Hold, Wholesaling, Note Investing. Once you figure this out, FOCUS solely on learning that via books, forums, videos, etc. Through this, you will learn what a good way to start is.

Start networking and attending your REIA groups and getting involved in the scene. Find someone who is doing what you want to do and just mirror them!

Good luck man!

-Ryan

@Cheng (Chris) Yu congrats!! I will totally agree with @Nate Shields in that the meetups are a great way to connect. It took me a while to ever getting around to my first one, but really enjoyed being surrounded by like-minded people - hard to explain that feeling! You'll make some great connects on just your first meeting and it is worth every minute.

@Idan Shkedy welcome! Funny - I believe I just stumbled upon your name in the Jax REIA group on FB a few hours ago!

I'm going to let @Justin Windham take the cake on the advice part here - very informative with great links, I would definitely look into those!

@David Grayson - nice to see a fellow Apex-er on here! I grew up right near Knightsplay.

Totally agree with what @Bob Woelfel said - wholesaling is definitely a job and it's what I'm doing now. I am in the process of scaling it and slowly working myself out of it - but I am learning a ton by having a foot in the industry and speaking with other investors, realtors, sellers, etc on a daily basis.

Just takes some internal digging to find out if your job is worth staying or if it's worth taking the leap (which is always risky!).

@Jeff Rice Congrats Jeff! Sounds like you got a solid first one. I'm in the process of possibly buying a duplex that's near me. Can't decide if I want the 'quick cash' of the wholesale or to pull some levers and purchase it myself!

Anywho... keep it up!

@Nashley Harrigan if nobody chimes in that's from that area with a recommendation, I recommend you go to the local Facebook page and search "(City) Real Estate Investors" and join a few groups and ask around there!

You could also start picking up the phone and calling a bunch of realtors and see if they have any recommendations if they above situations don't work.

Should be able to find a good contractor within a few hours if you do that!

@Layton E Bailey

Haven't heard of the method @Robert Mitchell mentioned - very creative!

I would call your code enforcement agency. You're probably going to get 27 "No's" "what the F are you talking about's" but you'll hopefully come across someone who knows what you're talking about. If all else fails, go into their office and try again there.

The harder it is to get a lead, generally the better it is!

Good luck!
