@Dwayne Burksgreen Welcome to BP!  This is an unbelievable resource and you should have no problem meeting and networking with like minded people.  I second @Daniel J., the podcast is amazing!  I started from the 1st episode and am on 34 now, still a long way to go!  But finding the time to squeeze it in (while driving, working out etc) will be well worth it for you.  Wishing you the best of luck!

Awesome @Scott Morgan!  Yeah, definitely keep us posted.  The model sounds interesting to me and I would love to hear your experience as you move through the process.

@Larry P. Do you mind sharing who you use for insurance?

@David Thompson

Thank you for the advice and I already love the BP community!  I have learned so much and continue to meet people that are doing very interesting things.  Love the fact that so many experts give freely of their time through posting on BP as well as being guests on the podcast.  It truly is a treasure trove of knowledge!

@Scott Morgan

Curious as to whether you pursued the fourplex and if you could share any details?

@Eric Waterford

Hi Eric,

I'm starting to learn about fourplexes myself and am wondering if that deal worked out for you?  Would love to hear some details.

Congrats and welcome to BP @David Christoffel!  Great job going out and doing your first deal!  Wish you lots of continued success in the future.

Hi @Anna Dube

I read your other post regarding this issue and I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.  Hope everything works out. I have no personal experience with Houston real estate attorneys, but in researching BP to get some recommendations for future deals, I came up with the following 2 names:

Steve Newsom (You can google "steve newsom attorney")

Drew Shirley (http://drewshirley.com)

Again, I have not had personal experience with them, but other BPers seemed to have good experiences with them.  Hope that helps.

@Alexander Timberlake Your theory resonates with me in that our outlook on buy and hold property seems to be the same.  I prefer stable properties in high rental demand areas where the properties will stay rented pretty consistently.  That should be leading to consistent equity buildup over time.  To me, that is the main benefit of real estate investing and especially the buy and hold strategy.  Any appreciation really is just icing!  Like you, I plan on keeping my full time job, so fix and flips are not going to work, time wise.  And your comparison to dividend stocks is spot on.

Thanks @Dave Foster! That clarifies it a lot. I think I'll just start out with an LLC, both for liability purposes and to make the 1031 process less problematic.
