Of course you can ask. You are going to find that out at the time of closing anyways.

If a wholesaler is offering you a price that is competitive with the open market, then they are not a wholesaler. You will definitely be able to meet up with some legitimate wholesalers next week at the meet-up.

I currently have lots of stuff under contract, but anything I would wholesale is in Vancouver or Seattle area and needs development or intense remodel for the deal to be profitable. I am starting getting calls off some recent marketing, so hopefully I will have some fun properties to talk about next week.

@Say Teoh I personally do not know the rules and regulations behind the conflict of interest when it comes to your real estate license and marketing, but it seems that @Randy Johnston would know what he is talking about. I am not positive, but I believe as long as you disclose everything and the firm at which you hang your license is fine with it, I think it is ok. Another way to find Off-Market deals would be wholesalers. You would be surprised at what some beginner wholesalers have under contract, but cannot perform on.

@Say Teoh Maybe you should try looking at Off-Market properties? I don't know about others, but I find 99% of my deals not listed on the MLS. It is definitely a less fished pool.

@Carly Franklin If your looking for good micro-brews and like minded real estate people, we are having a meet-up at Green Dragon on April 19th around 6:30pm. It is going to be a Rarebird-esq meeting, @Mike Nuss even helped organize it. Hope to see you there or at a Rarebird meeting and congrats on taking the leap!

I confirmed with Mike this morning that we have the space reserved at Green Dragon for Tuesday April 19th starting at 6:30pm. As Mike said, we will be providing appetizers for people. Also, as always, please no pitching of products or services at this event.

Hope to see a lot of familiar faces there!

Sounds like it is going to be at the Lucky Lab on SE Hawthorne Tuesday April 19th. I will coordinate with @Mike Nuss to get the space reserved and will keep everyone posted on the time.

This should be a fun one!

@Jessica S. Wow thats so exciting! I bet they are having a blast! Let me know if you can find a good spot on the Eastside and if nothing jumps out at you we can try and reserve a large space in one of the spots @Amanda Coleman mentioned.

Should we set a tentative date of Tuesday April 19th and as long as there are no major objections just plan on that?

Im looking forward to it! Should be a good turn out!

Amanda,

Way to take the plunge! There are so many different things you could do with that opportunity I would recommend reading as much as you can and meeting with a bunch of different people to get their two cents. It is amazing how many ideas or possibilities present themselves that you may not have ever thought of that someone would think is second nature because of their experiences.

Since your local I would also recommend coming to the meeting we are trying to put on here in Portland soon. It is a great opportunity to network and find out what works for other people in the area. Follow along here and hopefully we will have a time and place set soon: https://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/521/topics/29...

Hope to see you around!

This is great! I am glad there is some interest out there!

How does Mid-Late April sound to everyone? Maybe a Tuesday to avoid RareBird meetings? I am partial to the east side, but if people have objections or a good recommendation to meet on the west side, I am always open to try out a new place.

I don't know if @Jessica S. still has the friend with the meeting space on Alberta, but I personally enjoyed that meet up the most so far just because it was so easy to hear everyone and no one had to talk over the noise of a busy restaurant.

@Brad F., thoughts?

I am always open to ideas and am excited we are planning a spring meet-up!
