Getting started in Columbia County Oregon - finding my direction

Hello BiggerPockets Community!

My husband and I have been talking about real estate investing forever, but neither of us really knew the other one was serious about it until recently. Now we're working on it together instead of covertly! My husband found BiggerPockets, and now we're both learning, and listening, and following along. We live in the Columbia County area of Oregon - that's NW of Portland heading towards Washington and the Oregon coast for those of you who are already familiar with the Oregon area.

My husband purchased his own home in the past, and I helped my dad make some real estate deals before, but neither of us have personal experience purchasing an investment property, so we've got a lot to learn, but we're excited to get started and have set some pretty specific goals to keep ourselves on track. I'm considering getting my Oregon Real Estate license, but I haven't decided if that truly fits into our plan or not. I am definitely planning on at least educating myself with the text books, because I figure forewarned is forearmed as we get our feet wet in investing! 

We're looking to network locally and get to know like minded individuals. We'd also like to meet local attorneys, accountants, and real estate agents who are familiar with BiggerPockets and this way of thinking - with a goal towards having a team of people we can work with when we are getting started with investing and need some professional help!
