Thank you very much for your reply. Do you happen to know what could be the upper bound of the cost? I know that the owner never dealt with this seepage issue. Just wanted to get an estimate for the worst case scenario and see whether it is still worth the effort and time for all the inspections. Houses here also typically are gone quickly.

Hi, I live in the greater Boston area and the housing price here has gone through the roof these days. I was thinking about purchasing a two-family house (with one unit rented out) in order to afford a place in a good school district. The two-family I am currently interested in is in a good location. However, the house is old and has water seepage in the basement during rain. I was wondering how big of a deal water seepage is and if we are still interested in pursuing, how should we get started in making sure we can make an informed decision in purchasing or not for this property. For example, should we do a separate mold inspection and foundation inspection? Should we get a quote for repair from contractors?
