hey @Natalie Schanne thanks for the response.

She is totally on board and not resisting. The problem is she doesn't understand business but she wants to understand it. That's why I'm here looking for help. I have no doubt we we will get a 3-4plex. I just want to help her understand. She asked me to help her so I'm trying to help her.

@Linda S. I know when someone is doubting me vs when someone doesn't understand a subject.

I've stated several times that she wants to understand this so she can help so I'm not sure why you think she's doubting my ability to get the job done...

I do plan to buy to buy this prior to marriage. It's more than likely going to be all in my name. I'm not familiar with Rhode Island laws but I'd imagine id be ok with my plan. I'll looks into it. Thanks for the response

@Raymond Hill I'm glad you can relate as well! I will send you a private message so we can bounce thoughts and ideas off each other. Possible even meetup while I'm in town in the next few weeks.

Thanks bro!

Thanks @Jeff Filali  she totally supports it. She just doesn't understand it and wants to understand it. I just don't know how to explain it anymore than I already have without coming off as a jerk. I just don't know how to explain business to her anymore. Thanks for the comment man!

Sarah Melton that's deep. Thank you. I would say we're pretty much in that same boat actually. I use BP like it's my bible but I also just google for a lot of little questions I might have. I feel like she wants to understand it all so that she can assist with the process of this first one sense we're going to live there for a bit. I think it's also important to note that she is the one currently in Rhode Island and knows the area way better than I do so she somewhat has to give input in order for this work! I try to explain the business process and the importance of screening, and credit, and investing and ROI, and cash flow to her and something's seem to click, and others don't. For example, she keeps trying to tell me about her experience renting and she didn't have to do a credit check or get a consigned or anything and I'm sorry to say, her landlord just wasn't very business minded. I watched it first hand and that lady was not with it at all. I can give you stories in a private message if your interested. She also tells me I'm going to have a hard time being a landlord when I've never rented before. True I have not rented but I think that kind of stuff is minor when you are business minded individual. Which I think is what she is asking for. Help her make sense of the business. And I'm out of ideas.

I do find it interesting how so many people have missed the question and have resorted to giving me relationship advice... our relationship is just fine. I'm asking how to help someone understand business and investing. It's common sense to us but clearly it's not common sense to everyone. Thanks!

@Sarah Melton thanks for the words of wisdom. You and @Account Closed I appreciate your comment as well. You seem to understand my question so if you can either give further advice on this post or send me a direct message, that'd be great!

Thanks!!

@Billie Miller yeah, if I do end up putting nice stuff in the unit we live in, that's gonna be the "master unit" for rent when we move lol!
