Welcome @Stephen Spradley! I look forward to maybe meeting you at one of the local meetups.

@Mindy Jensen I just wanted to share a link to a specific comment. Quoting is not the same because the link provides the context of the original conversation.

@David Dachtera yeah I expected the timestamp of the comment to be a link that I could copy and paste the URL of. It's a fairly common pattern. Alternative to that is the "permalink" pattern which is also fairly common. In this case though there's no way to link to a specific comment AFAICT. Oh well!

Thanks @Linda Weygant I've never heard of an "owner carry". I'll look into that!

Maybe there are other ways I can make it cheaper for the seller to sell?

Hi @Christopher Phillips

I was thinking capital gains (updated the original post). But really I am looking for any way I can make it more desirable for the current owner to sell. I recently discovered that the same person owns two town homes in a particular building, but only one of them is for sale. I am seeking ways to make it more desirable for the owner to sell both houses to me. And just wondered if there are any ways that the sale could be structured that reduce the capital gains tax burden on the seller.

Hi Folks,

I am investigating an opportunity to purchase from another investor. I am wondering if there is anything at all that I can do as the buyer, to help lower the capital gains (or other) tax burden on the seller?

Cheers,
Daniel

@Jeremy Clarke thanks for the comment. It's refreshing to have one from a local that understands what's been happening here over the past 6 years or so. Not claiming that my understanding is complete, but you know where I'm coming from. I'll PM you if you don't mind!!

@Justin B.Thanks for your reply. Yes this makes sense. This would be an investment-only scenario though (not living in it).

@Brent Coombs this would be a third house, not the primary one we live in.
