Thanks @Joe Kavan.  I appreciate the affirmation from a licensed plumber.   The scenario was just as you described above with the plumber having to eventually replace the toilet.  Since this was my first toilet I had to replace the price seemed high, but I didn't think it was unreasonable considering how bad the toilet was.

Thanks @John Underwood.  Where is Greer?  I thought it was state law you had to have a license to work on a rental.

Thanks @Scott P. and @Linda Weygant.  This is the first toilet I have had to replace due to it being unable to be cleared.  I definitely have good pictures of the toys as well as the plumber trying to take them out.

Also Thanks @Matt M..  In the state of South Carolina to do work on a Rental Property you have to be licensed.  I could definitely see how a handy man would be cheaper though.  When your son gets a few years older and gets a license send him my way.

@Randy E. Thanks for the perspective.  I have used a few plumbing companies in the past and have had fairly good luck with this company.  You may be right as far as getting a fresh set of eyes on the property.  When I spoke with the tenant originally he agreed to the payment plan, but missed the initial deadline.  I am waiting for the April 1st date to see what they pay and what they don't.  Again, thanks for the advice.

Thanks @Ravi P. I don't like to give out interest free loans, but I understand what you are saying.

@Max T. as mentioned I don't do my own plumbing so the licensed plumbers I do hire charge a trip charge as well as a fee for their service.  I somehow doubt they use an $80.00 toilet, but who knows.  Their work also comes with a warranty.

@Matt M. I also have in my lease that the plumbing system is serviced by the landlord with the exception of tenant neglect.  Ie wet wipes, sanitary napkins, toys, or other foreign objects. If the tenants had moved out with a toy clogged toilet I would be able to deduct it from their deposit. Unfortunately they have two and a half months on their lease.  I did offer three equal payments which would put them paid off before the end of their lease however they didn’t make the first payment so it doesn’t appear they are exercising that option.  I understand some things are inherent with being a landlord but that’s also why you build a strong lease to protect yourself from situations like this.

@Joe Splitrock it wasn't a single toy.  It was a 4 toys that were lodged in the upper part of the trap.  Not sure how excessive the cost is with the trip charge, the attempt to dislodge the obstruction and then the eventual removal and replacement of the toilet by a licensed plumber.

@Sam Hopkins they currently have a few lease violations.  Mostly Quite Enjoyment, but also they had an unauthorized pet at one time.  Its definitely something to think about.

@Account Closed.  That will be my last option, but I would much rather they pay it and continue their lease until the end.

@Carlos Tavares agreed. Plumbing is definitely one of my biggest expenses with my rentals.
