Think of your investing path , as another form of dancing. 
Lots of fun, occasionally some pain. At first it all seems to hard. Which style of dance suits best. Which style are You naturally attracted to.  The need for patience and disciple. Plus persistence.  Then focus. Then all of a sudden it flows. Then the magic begins. 

Bigger Pockets is a great resource and support center. There are many here with experience and wisdom. The only dumb question is the one you do not ask. And in investing ask lots of questions. By the way it is better to learn from the pain of others, than Your own pain. So in reading , or listening to the podcasts, often when people share their painful experiences. They do so in the hope of others not having to go through their pain.

Thanks  @Forest Williams  for posting this. And thanks to everyone who responded. As an Australian looking to invest, and source properties in the USA. So while not from Canada, the thing in common is being out of Your country, This thread was of value.
