I have clients about to close on a home with DR Horton in the Austin area and I am very impressed. I seen every builder within 30 minutes of downtown and nothing under 200K came close to what my clients are getting. Not to mention their home has brick in the front. I have compared. Some people have a strict budget and its hard but for 190K I'm not complaining and neither are my clients. :)

A lot of people don't know that Texas has a beautiful Hill Country with lakes. When you think of Texas, the rodeo and cowboy hats probably come to mind lol! I live in Lakeway, TX which is the other side of Lago Vista. We have more amenities and shopping here but still have the beautiful hill views and lake. I'm in heaven every time I walk out my back door. I looked at Lago Vista when I first moved to the Austin area and it's so affordable but decided against it due to work. It's not as populated.

Florida is nice for the beaches but to humid for me and the bugs are insane. Austin is more dry. It can be 95 and I'm still loving it outside.

Good luck with your next move!

It is amazing! I looked at it and thought, that's in Texas? It looks like something out of a coastal town in North Carolina. I am amazed. Thank you so much for mentioning it to me.

What area is the house in, also whats your option period.  Are you getting it inspected? There are affordable company's that can manage it for you for about 100.00/month. The prices are going up fast in Austin. If you can get something now under 200K near Austin, then your in good shape. Next year might not be as affordable, but get it inspected to see if you need more cash aside for repairs. If you can rent it out as is and get some cash flow, later you can do updates from the rent your collecting.

Hope this helps!

Thank you,

Patricia Debruyne

Todd McGrath, I'd love to share my experience with my condos. I'm completely honest and will tell you the truth. I'm not the type to talk people into anything. Everyone's situation is going to be different so it's good to hear from at least a few owners. Even though I'm a realtor, I feel a real owner can give you the information your looking for. I manage mine myself so I save there. It's really easy, even for folks that never owned an iPhone. I have taught my clients how to set up HomeAway.com or VRBO and now I use Airbnb as well. I to wanted a beach house at first and obsessed over it for years. I almost moved to one in seabrook when I sold my house in Houston. But thankfully I moved to Austin to give my kids better schools. I couldn't stop thinking about it though. One day I decided to look at condos and couldn't believe how low the prices were. Now I'm hooked. Yes!!! I still want that beach house so I can tell all my friends and family that I own a beach house but the cost is the same as 3 condos. I'm trying to be smart and later get the beach house. If you could pm me your contact info. We can set up a time to talk real quick about all the details and I'll be happy to answer your questions.

What are the estimated prices of the luxury condos you are researching. I think Galveston needs more condos for sure. As a real estate agent, I know so many investors that want to buy more properties in Galveston and they focus on the price, HOA, and views. I'm assuming they would all have a view. I wouldn't say we nessasarily need high end luxury. Nice pools, and a restaurant on site would be nice. Options of 1,2,and 3 bedrooms would be nice and laundry available in each unit would be a huge luxury in my eyes. Would it be like San Luis resort? I would love to see a new complex come to Galveston. There isn't a lot of new complexes and my clients have asked for newer so I think this is a great idea. Galveston is up and coming fast with them extending the beaches and soon adding bathrooms and showers. I know prices are only going up and more and more people are learning what Galveston has to offer. Who knows I might want to buy one of your new condos. Please keep us posted here if you end up doing this.

Thank you,
