Hey Thanks @Lucas Pfaff ! I haven't even heard of HAPCO, so I'll definitely check it out and I'll be sure to join as a member. Also, thanks for referring me to Joe Scorsese and @Steve Babiak . I''ve RVSP's to a Meetup that he is hosting/attending soon, so I'm glad that you mentioned his name. Thanks again!

@John Matthews Great advice. I visited my first REIA/Digonline/WHIP meeting last week, and gained so much from the forum discussion. I didn't get to do as much networking as I would like to have, but am looking forward to some of the upcoming meetings. If you'd be interested in going to a few together, let me know. I have a small cohort of new investors that I've recently met and who are also trying to get into the game. I'm trying to build a support network with them and get them to come out to the meetings as well.

Thanks again, and best of luck!

Patrick

Thanks @Paul Timmins ! I'm about half way through the Ultimate Beginner's Guide, I've listened to a few podcasts that were really helpful and enjoyable. They keep the conversation lively and humorous while still asking the serious questions. I've just begun going to REIA meetings and will continue to do so and I'll have to look up J. Scotts book. Also thanks for the advice about student housing rentals. I live right by UPenn, Drexel and University of the Sciences in West Philly and have thought quite a bit about that very idea. It's good to have affirmation! I'll also dig into the newest BP once I finish with the Ultimate Beginners Handbook.

Thanks again so much for really delineating so much helpful information and suggesting so many good resources. I am so glad to have come across BP, the community is amazing on here!

Best!

Patrick

Hello BiggerPockets World,

Anyone in the Philadelphia area that is member of their REIA chapter, organized under DigOnline.org. I looked through the website which seems quite antiquated and cumbersome. To really be able to access it and see what it is about, you need to be a member with a paid membership. Their is a very tiered scale to membership, but I'm just wondering if there is any benefit to being a member to DigOnline.org, if I already attend their Meetup's here in Philadelphia and the surrounding area and I'm already a member of BiggerPockets, which seems to have a more functional website, better resources and greater networking reach.

I don't mind paying for membership, I just want to make sure that there is a benefit, and the website doesn't go into great detail listing the benefits well enough to convince me yet.

Thanks for any advice or input!

Best of luck!

Patrick

Thanks @Joshua Dorkin for the helpful advice and for suggestions to do as far as followup actions.

Hey thanks for the advice @Curt Davis and @Jon Lafferty , I think that is the conclusion that I am coming to, that I'll just upgrade to PRO right away. @Hilary Karaman if you will be spending a significant amount of time dedicated to REI this year, I'll let you know if it was worth the investment to me and you can give it a try. Also, thanks @Paul Ewing , I couldn't agree more, we need to not only be beneficiaries of BiggerPockets but we need to help support them for all that they provide. To use REI terms, the ROI for the PRO membership is infinite!

Thanks again BiggerPockets community!

Hello BiggerPockets World,

My name is Patrick O'Neill, I live in Philadelphia and I am just getting into REI. I am a general contractor/handyman and interior painter so I have the liberty to schedule my schedule as I please. I have a relatively low cost of living so I figured that I'm in an opportune position to get into real estate.

I am looking to upgrade my profile subscription but would like to have any input from the BiggerPockets community as to which may suit my needs best, being that I am new to the REI scene. I plan on dedicating a fair amount of time and effort this year to this cause, with the ultimate goal of getting out of contracting, unless it happens to be working on my own properties, or doing rehabs on my own investments.

Any thoughts, comments, advice or concerns would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and best of luck!

Patrick

Thanks @James Wise! I'm originally from Michigan, so not to far from you. If you're ever in Philly, look me up, we can grab a coffee or a bite to eat!
