I have a tax deed on a vacant acre of land and the taxpayer indicated she wants to redeem the property.

What paperwork is needed to convey the property back to the taxpayer after they have agreed to the redemption amount and what are the steps in this process for me as an investor?

Property is located in Jefferson county Alabama

Thanks

@Ned Carey When searching for tax deed property I would like to know if there are any incumbrances associated with it to determine if it is something I would be willing to invest in. I have the time and find the whole process very interesting. In my opinion gaining knowledge of how the entire process works is also a valuable investment. I appreciate all the input from you guys. BP is a great forum to pass on our successes and failures for others to learn from.

I know it's easier to have a title company do the leg work doing research, but how can an investor throughly perform the same task? Do title companies have preferred access to information the average investors don't have? What are the best places to check for a complete DIY title search? Thanks, Gene Walker McCalla, Alabama

What about rolling the money over to a check book IRA account?. I don't know the particulars of doing this maybe someone else has experience here.

Thanks Denise for the information. What is the process to determine what is owed by the taxpayer to redeem the tax deed?

I have a property (vacant 1acre lot that adjoins their property) that has matured from a tax certificate to a tax deed. I have already had the deed recorded in my name in Jefferson county, Al.

My question is if the taxpayer wants to redeem the tax deed how would they proceed to redeem from me since I have the deed recorded in my name? Do they pay only the taxes and interest? Quitclaim Deed  or is there another process? @DeniseEvans, any insight?

Thanks in advance,

Gene Walker
