Post: Is investing in vinyl siding worth it?

The one thing I can contribute to this question is to tell you about what happened to the house with vinyl siding down the street from my parents.

There was a fire (don't know how/where it started) and once the siding ignited the fire couldn't be extinguished.  There was *literally* nothing left except the smoking hole that used to be the basement.  That was several years ago, and the siding might have been older still, but it clearly left an impression.

Hi all, I'm new to BP (DC native, one of the few actually born in the city!), and found this thread. Nice to meet you!

I started as a fan of his books, but realized he never quite revealed - for lack of a better term - the 'secret sauce.' An example that sticks with me a decade later is some contract he had in which he was only losing $40/month or so. He took it to his Rich Dad, who chided him for it, made some changes to the contract, and lo and behold, now he was going to earn $40/month.

What I really wanted to see, of course was the before and after of the contract. "Maybe in the next book," I thought, but no, it wasn't. Nor in the book after that. Etc., etc.

Of course, a much later interview in which he said the Rich Dad was more like "Santa Claus" then a real person torpedoed any remaining credibility he had with me.

Hi Brandon,

Thanks for all the tips and info! Now I need to figure out the @Brandon Turner trick... what do you know, I did! Awesome platform here. I happened to notice the 'mention' in the menu up top. And that's a good idea with the photo - at the moment, I've a patch over my eye and half my face so that may have to wait a bit. Words of advice - always wear sunscreen, and protect your eyes at all costs!

I suppose the investing I'm interested in is the kind that makes money. I don't know enough about RE to further qualify my a

I have a full-time job, and I'm working on a couple web development things on the side. However, I'd like greater diversity, and in particular I'd like to get very smart about real estate. My wife and I are still digging out from an enormous amount of medical debt (totally worth it though!), and RE may be another tool to help make that happen. I would want to be smart though, so as not to make our situation worse. :-)

Hi all,

I'm new to everything RE. I live and work in NoVA and am really looking forward to learning more! If anyone else here is in the area we should have a meetup or something!
