Post: Florida RE school opinions?

Hi all,

I've just moved to Florida (Brevard County) and I'm thinking of getting my RE license to earn some extra income.  The Space Coast Association of REALTORS has a list of about half a dozen RE schools.  Before I start calling them, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with RE schools in Florida?  Pros or cons, things I should be on the lookout for, etc.?

Thanks!

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that it rents for $800.

@Ivan Barratt Man, I misread that as "210 million apartments" and thought, "Oh puh-leeeze..."

I'd base it on your age and what impact that has on the things you want to do.

Living in an RV, for example, isn't too different in your 20s vs your 30s.  So if you're in your 20s, put that off for a while and keep working, maybe reward yourself with a nicer RV.  Same example, if you're in your 50s, go do the RV thing now, b/c it's going to be harder to do so in 10 years... warm beds and running water will be a siren call to keep you from enjoying your RV experience.

@Sam Grooms Not to hijack the thread, but could you expand a bit?  How much capital does one need to be involved passively?  What do you learn when investing passively; that is, did it afford you the opportunity to be hands-on and see all the facets involved?

I've always seen that people have to pay more rent for a higher apartment vs. a lower one in the same building, so it seems likely to carry over to condos as well.

That said, you could also look at intra-comps within other buildings as analogues.  My guess is you'll see a view premium that increases as you go higher.

@Joseph Schreiber, still, that's a good payout for someone in their 20s.

@Joseph Schreiber Out of curiosity, what was the nature of the business you sold?

Yeah, if I was a property mgr, I think I’d base it on travel time, not distance.
