Bankers here are very focused on relationships. If you intend to approach them for any sort of loan you should plan on spending some time in Charleston and be prepared with a very focused strategy.

We have noticed that. We are planning to visit in August to meet lenders face to face. Thank you for your suggestions. :)

Post: Proposition 10 on November 2018 Ballot

"Supporters of a state ballot initiative to expand rent control options for cities across California announced Monday they had gathered enough signatures to qualify the measure for the November 2018 ballot.

If passed, the measure would repeal the 1995 Costa Hawkins Rental Housing Act, which sets limits on the kind of rent control policies cities are able to impose. Right now, 15 California cities have rent control policies. In the LA area, that includes the cities of Los Angeles, West Hollywood, and Santa Monica.... "

https://la.curbed.com/2018/1/12/16883276/rent-cont...

If passed, do you think this could potentially encourage San Diego authorities to impose rent control regulations?

Does anyone know what's the view of San Diego's current elected officials on rent control regs?

Can anyone recommend a good lender in Charleston that offers both conventional and portfolio products?

Thank you in advance.

Post: SD council votes to limit Airbnb rentals to primary residences

A piece of not so good news for San Diego Airbnb community:

http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/business/touri...

In a move that will dramatically alter San Diego’s home sharing landscape, the City Council Monday voted to outlaw vacation rentals in secondary homes, limiting short-term stays to one’s primary residence only.

The effect of the action will be to curtail investor activity in the short-term rental market while also barring residents and out-of-towners from hosting short-term stays in multiple properties other than where they reside.

Thoughts?
