@Adam Bradley  thanks for the input.  I am certainly open to other areas and even like the idea of converting.  Thanks so much for the input

Hey there,  I am a real estate investor working my day job in Birmingham for a couple of months.  While here, I want to buy a multi-family unit (4-10) to buy and hold.  Any advice on areas to look into?  I also hope to meet some local investors at a meet up soon!  Thanks in advance.

Did you look up the tax records on the tax accessor web site?  It should provide current owner.

Next steps are to stabilize it, get the two units ready to rent which is a little daunting.   Lessons so far:  be patient and a good deal will happen,  if the deal is good you can find the money,  and start slow to learn before digging in to something too big or in need of too much work .
