Post: Los Angeles has gone housing market crazy.

I have been renting a house for the past 7 years in LA and now sadly the family wants to move back in. I figured it's time to buy my own place, especially with rents so high, but timing couldn't be worse. Every home has 15 offers and I have gone $30 to $40k over asking yet still have lost 6 so far.

Bubble?

Buying isn't happening right now.

Anyone else experiencing this?

The problem is, 32 rental contracts is nothing. If most of those are weekends that's only 64 nights a year. Big Bear I rented out 225 nights last year. I figure if anyone tries ti limit, it's time to move on. Seems like a low ROI for a high buy in too.

And looks like it's a very good thing I didn't invest in Palm Springs- their new short term rental situation seems awful.

Hey @Phillip Vaughan, I actually use my company! Ha. I was doing so well with my home, I took on a few other clients and now am up to 5 cabins.  I charge less than the management companies up there, I let you keep your own account so you don't lose reviews if you decide to leave me and I make sure you approve all repairs. My goal isn't to nickel and dime owners like many companies, I simply want to make you money and give you renters a great stay. I have also teamed up with my best friend of 20 years who is a realtor, so we take you around, show you which places and locations will make the best income. It's been fun!

Congrats! Looks like you are getting pretty good rates even though you are in Big Bear City. Place looks great!

And turns out when booked on VRBO it only does a calendar sync- as people have said- you need 5 properties- which is fine- but for some reason VReasy- while blocking on the calendar does not trigger an automation for VRBO blocked calendar. Their automations are only triggered on confirmed - which means you have to go in an manually confirm which sort of defeats the purpose.

So now I'm looking for a service that even if it's an ical sync that sync still triggers the automation.

Trying VReasy right now- and it seems a bit problematic. It doesn't auto sync often enough- my VRBO is going thru ical and it's been 12 hours since it last sync itself. I made a fake reservation on VRBO had to manually force a sync and yet 10 min later I still have not gotten a single notice sent to cleaners about this new reservation- it's supposed to be triggered automatically.

Also someone booked on AirBnB yesterday and then had to cancel- it's been 24 hours yet their reservation still shows on my VReasy calendar

Also since they are based on Europe- they only answer my questions, can have a conversation with me between 2 and 9am my time in California.
