I think you meant that there is no vaccine. It is very similar to the regular flu so the cure is to hydrate, manage your symptoms, keep your fevers low, eat well, sleep well and let our amazing bodies take care of it.

The hysteria is interesting but I am no longer shocked by it as I have witnessed a few snow storms since moving here and the reaction is very similar.

My concern is for the people that will legitimately be unable to pay their rents because their jobs asked them to stay home for one reason or the other and the landlords that still need to make their mortgage payments.

Welcome!! I would focus on whichever area you're close to and learn as much of the market as possible. And definitely go to the REI meetings.

Welcome @Glenn Wykoff. That's a solid plan. Good luck!

Lake Montebello is close to Morgan state university for what it's worth. You may be able to rent individual rooms

May be a good idea to start looking at property around where you'll be living while at school and ask your father if he may partner with you on it. You can house hack that. If that's not an option, then keep your head down and keep saving.

Why do you want to get your RE license now if college is in your future. Good luck Aaron. I'm pulling for you.

Do you plan on moving out? You already have a great network in your dad. Why don't you offer to work for him or ask him introduce you to people that would let you gain some experience as you continue to save and get your RE license?

@Brian Stearns would you recommend house hacking a duplex? Or would a simple SFH (single family home) be sufficient?

Welcome Aaron.

It's great that you have initiative and awareness at such a young age. For your answer, it would depend on your budget, your situation and the options available to you. Are you in school? Live by yourself? Any debts?

I am not here to criticize your fun car, it’s your prerogative but If it isn’t Tesla, I am really sorry.

While a Tesla is a great car and a good indicator of the future of cars, it makes no noise, can't see the engine and the interior is minimalist. I think it attracts a different type of crowd.

@Scott V.
I made a similar decision as you. It was foolhardy and I regret it every time. Until i step into the car, push the button, hear the sound and take a drive on the deserted back-roads. Since I am mortgage-free, i consider it my "housing payment." However, I have now made it my mission to create another business that will offset the monthly payments of the car. It would have been 100x easier if i had had the patience to wait.

I'm not sure if links are allowed as i'm still new to the site. I happen to know this area myself so while i strongly agree with Ian, i just did a quick search on Zillow and Trulia to see if i could substantiate the claims and i think Trulia's crime map for the neighborhood would give you pause. Zillow's Zestimates for all properties on that block hover around 29k.
