Post: Verbo (what happened to HomeAway) vs Airbnb

That is a great question. I am also Premier Partner on HomeAway and I am getting about 50/50 coming from VRBO vs HomeAway.

I am assuming that when people are searching on either site, the same entries come up. Have you tried searching on VRBO for your property with typical parameters to see how it compares?

Make sure you clear the browser history to make it a fresh search. I am going to try it and see what happens.

But, 100k with a single villa! Way to go! Where in Los Cabos is your place?

We have a minimum 3 night stay and do not allow instant booking. I vet each and every guest. It assures a quality experience for both the guest and us.

We are at about 80/20 in favor of HomeAway/VRBO. We have a whole house so AirBNB doesn't provide as many guests.

We have only had our rental for one full year, and every guest has been pretty great. There have been a couple of very minor things.

We put a sign on the back of the toilet telling people to only flush toilet paper(due to a pump system that goes to the city sewer) and a small basket with 2 starter soaps and shampoo's. They took all of them off the toilets and placed them way in the back of the bath cabinets. Were they getting water out of the toilet tank? Tasty!

Another guest washed several dishes and put them all in different places. Like a stack of plates on top of the glasses. Weird.

Lost one hair dryer. Otherwise it has been trouble free!

Our home is very well equipped. The kitchen is full stocked with many items to make just about anything including a turkey.

3 coffee makers (2 Keurig and a drip) plus a french press.

Don't go for just the basics. Make the home somewhere you would want to live everyday and you will get it right.

Ours is in Harrison, Idaho on the shores of Lake Coeur d' Alene. It is about 35 miles down lake from the city of Coeur d' Alene.

Looking to expand into another somewhere else in the US!

My wife and I spent a couple weeks in the White Mountains of NH quite awhile ago. I have always wanted a STR there and I am taking a look at it.

It does have me concerned that the Conway area is thinking of restricting VRBO's

Ok, so I am sorry I missed the meeting. I saw at the top 9pm and thought to myself, Dinner at 9pm , ok!

Anyways, I got there at 8:45 only to find everyone gone. Hopefully it was a good one!

When is the next one? I will be there!

From the other side, I rented a Hilton timeshare right next to the Las Vegas Convention Center for CES this year and got a great deal. Found it on Craigslist. When most hotels are charging 5-800 a night I am in at 110.

I used www.tug2.com and www.timesharesbyowner.com to do some searches. you will find tons of people renting their weeks and usually for a decent deal.

I don't think you are going to get rich doing it, but if you can't use it, might as well.
