@Bernie Germani Great advise! Is it more proper to wholesale under a personal name than using a Doing Business As (DBA) name?

I get the feeling that DBA's don't carry much weight.

Thanks! -Michael

Yes, I am definitely leaning towards filing an entity. Thanks!

Hello fellow South Carolinians, I am attempting to file my Doing Business As (DBA) and working my way through registering at the multiple counties and municipalities that require a business license.

I filed a business license with one municipality, my goal is to get the DBA on the books and jump into REI. Then, see if REI is something I want to move forward with and then file an Entity. By doing this, I will file the DBA under a sole proprietorship and then go back to the same municipalities and file under a recognized entity.

I understand a DBA is a factious name and is not recognized by the state, but I also don't want to get in trouble for not filing a DBA, then advertising with the DBA and risk a penalty with the state.

I am most likely making this process too difficult. Instead of filing a DBA then going back to file the entity, should I just file the an entity and get it over with?

Any help in thinking through the process or sharing personal experienced would be appreciated.

-Michael

Post: Real estate auction

I just attended my first auction today. If I recall correctly, only 3 properties were bought in the Millions of dollars. In a lot of cases, the banks, represented by their attorneys, were buying up most of the properties for $250 or $500.

My intended goal for going to the auction was to meet buyers and create a buyers list (email list) for when I get a property under contract I can sell it quickly. I really did not know what to expect, after walking through security and waiting for the judge to enter the room, the crowd seated in something similar to church benches, was fairly up tight and the situation was not conducive to socializing and handing out business cards. I did arrive late to socialize,so hopefully next time I go I can arrive earlier to meet the investors with big pockets!

@Jay Hinrichs

"I explain most have no money and they should call me and I will provide bank proof within 15 minutes of the call ..."

This is a great idea! A great way for easy validation and also helps to break the ice. Thanks for the reply!

@John Semanchuk Thanks for the reply and the clarification!
