In finally started, The Art of the Deal - Donald Trump (1987).

Reviews of this book by John T. Reed, and some other sources, have been great, and so far I love it.

I have not heard good reviews about any other Trump/Trump University books. Just this one. So far it's keeper, and even a rereader, and it's available for 7.99 in the Business Profiles section of Barnes and Noble.

Actually, I just reread the original poster's question and realized it's about finding tenants. For my question I'm wondering if craigslist can work to get motivated sellers calling me, and where those posts would go.

Thanks everyone. That helps.

I'm guessing some of the firms that aggregate that data have created APIs so sites like zilpy can grab it programatically. I can't imagine a data entry person manually entering renter occupancy percentages into zilpy's database. Though on zilpy that figure doens't appear to change by neighborhood, it seems to be for an entire city.

The error page is a blank white page with the text:

"We're sorry, but something went wrong.

We've been notified about this issue and we'll take a look at it shortly. "

I get that after checking the colleague's check box, then clicking "add"

If you still need a screen let me know.

How does one go about finding the percentage of renters on a block, or in a neighborhood, of SFHs?

I know for a condo complex that data is available via the HOA.

I'm wondering how I can find that data for a block of SFHs.

I know zilpy gives a renter occupied figure on their site for the area surrounding a given address. I wonder if the data is accurate and where it comes from.

Great article. Scary.

Richard I liked your article about getting your house in order. It falls in line with the conclusion of the doom and gloom article. Those living within their means 'might' come out unscathed.

Wow -

This thread just keeps going. A lot of good books in this thread. The books that gave me a full shift in perception:

For Motivation:

- Way of the Peaceful Warrior (Dan Millman)
- The Magic of Thinking Big (?)
- Rich Dad Poor Dad - (Kiyosaki) The first book
- Conversations w/ God - Book 1 (Neale Donald Walsh)

For Nuts and Bolts investing:

hmmm...

Any good nuts and bolts (no fluff, no motivation) real estate investing book out there? :)

I just finished Real Estate Math DeMystified (Moony). Basic, but I liked it.

- I heard The Art of the Deal by Donald Trump is great. I may have to get it online: Can't find it

I'm currently reading The Real Estate Fast Track by David Finkel. I am half way through and undecided.

This thread brought to light some great books I should check out.

Prosper is the club with the Los Angeles chapter.
Thanks for the tip, Richard.

I was thinking about flying out to Vegas soon to hit some of the other one's, too.

Hi Alan -

I am in the exact same situation. Only I am in So Cal. I too am researching Vegas neighborhoods. I've started contacting some Realtors that also invest there. I am looking to build a team there using Realtor/Investors as the starting point.

I did find some Vegas REI clubs listed on this site. There is a Vegas chapter meets in Santa Monica California.

I will have to check out MyPropFolio. I've been testing out related software all week.
